Pantera to reunite for the first time in 20 years
Surviving members looking forward to touring in 2023

Update: It would appear that another name has appeared from the rumor mill. Anthrax's Charlie Benante's name has been tossed around as the fill in drummer for the trek. Though nothing is confirmed at this point.
It's been 20 years since Pantera has toured. Billboard reports that Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown have signed a deal with Artist Group International to book the upcoming 2023 North American dates. With both Abbott brothers (guitarist Dimebag Darell and drummer Vinne Paul) being deceased, it is still up in the air as to who will be joining Phil and Rex on the road.
Speaking on that topic Phil had the following to say:
"I'm open for anything. And Rex and I, we are in touch and we talk. We're friends and everything's cool, so I keep an open mind. We'll see in the future."
It should be noted that a long-time rumor of Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde joining the band has been swirling around since 2014. Though the rumor did receive new blood when Phil spoke about the possibility of it happening in a 2019 interview. However, there is no concrete evidence to support it happening, ...yet.

Yeah, they'll just have hologram Vinnie and Dime play along to backing tracks. Two way split baby. Mo' money.
anonymous 3 minutes ago lol just had to wait for the talent to die before being able to cash in? They just died yesterday so this checks out.
I think they have to get Zakk Wylde or the tour will be a flop. Can't think of any guitarist with a fanbase that overlaps enough of their fanbase to escape the shadow of Dime not being there.
As much as I don't care for this idea of a reunion without Dime and Vinnie the ONLY guitarist i can think of that could even pull this off would be Wes Hauch. Look him up if you haven't.
^^^ Nah the dude from Alluvial, The Faceless, and Conquering Dystopia. He's also done some demos for Dime related gear on youtube
Idk why i said Conquering Dystopia. Forget that part LOL how i got him confused with Kieth Merrow is beyond me. He was also in Glass Casket
The best parts of the band are 6 feet deep. Phil smokes too much to hold any highs, even though he did sound alright at Hellfest with Down recently. But the old Pantera, theres no way in Hell he can do any of that unless he gets a throat transplant. And yeah only one I can see that could hold stage presence like Dime would be Zakk.
They'll make it 4 dates before it falls apart and Phil goes on a full Nazi tirade. Also the new owner of Lambgoat encourages members to Dox other members when they hurt his wittle feewings, so your information can be taken at any moment.
I know this is probably gonna sound dumb, I wouldn't hate it if it was just marketed as Phil and Rex play Pantera or whatever, but it being billed just as Pantera feels shitty.
With any luck, Pantera would have been playing Kiss covers, Saturday nights at the bar, if it not been for Phil Anselmo. He was creative force behind the change in sound on Cowboys from Hell. They still would have been doing playing hair metal and never would have achieved the success that they did without him.
"With the Abbotts out of the way, Rex and Phil are able to cash in. Are they even legally allowed to use the name Pantera? Do they own a piece of it? " yeah retard, there were 4 members in the band, 2 have passed, that leaves 2 left, which are the 2 trying to 401k cash out on this endeavor, honest question, are you able to chew solid foods?
"As much as I don't care for this idea of a reunion without Dime and Vinnie the ONLY guitarist i can think of that could even pull this off would be Wes Hauch. Look him up if you haven't." Wes Hauch bought three Washburn Dime USA custom shop guitars in the last like what? 5 years, that doesn't grant him access to become a Dimebag Darrell fill in, f*cking chode. Just because you played in a shit tier deathcore band and were able to save up $12k to buy three guitars doesn't mean you're dimebag 2.0. sorry bud.
TEDDY BOY GREG IS FLYING IN FROM RUSSIA FOR THIS
glad I saw them in 92, won't be there for this.
You keep this love (thing), love (child), love (toy) You keep this love (fist), love (scar), love (break)
This is the worst thing to happen to butt rock fans since 9/11
Fortunately, Greg Abbott has been tapped to fill his brother's shoes
So much for the without dime there's no pantera bullshit huh
anonymous 1 hour ago "As much as I don't care for this idea of a reunion without Dime and Vinnie the ONLY guitarist i can think of that could even pull this off would be Wes Hauch. Look him up if you haven't." not gonna do a search on any numbnut rando named "wes hauch" lmao
Tour will be abruptly cancelled after 3 days when a twitter thread accusing the band of "sexual misconduct" goes viral because Rex and Phil didn't know you can't sleep with groupies and not immediately marry them anymore.
It's not a "Pantera reunion" when the two guys who wrote everything (aka the only members that matter) are dead. Not even a big fan but saw them live more than once through the years…Phil was an incoherent wasted mess on stage and you could literally train a monkey to play Rex's parts on bass. Anyone enabling these 2 old hacks in this endeavor should swan dive off the nearest tall building.
NorthFromHere 7 hours ago I think they have to get Zakk Wylde or the tour will be a flop. Can't think of any guitarist with a fanbase that overlaps enough of their fanbase to escape the shadow of Dime not being there. Pretty much this. The Phil & Rex Show isn't enough draw to make this worth while even using the band name
The dudes who just left As I Lay Dying are going full heel and joining Pantera.
Rick Tocchet's mom here, Rick is not only a deeply closeted gay but a closeted liberal as well. He was deemed a sex offender when he was found masturbating in a voting booth after voting for Biden.
either you were there for it or you weren't and never will be. Pantera died a very long time ago
f*ck that band, f*ck this website, and f*ck the new owners
They'll be the opening act for all of Trump's campaign events.
^^^^ I laughed. Good work. And I agree about the Cavalera brothers. Great f*ckin idea. But that will never happen.
Dimebag rules and Phil is an asshole but this is f&&king awesome!! Greatest metal band of all time and one that I wish HXC bands would cover more often. Slaughtered or suicide note 2 or I'm Broken or Domination....... would be absolute chaos!
yeah retard, there were 4 members in the band, 2 have passed, that leaves 2 left, which are the 2 trying to 401k cash out on this endeavor, honest question, are you able to chew solid foods? Shut up junior, clean your f*cking room.-Before your mother and myself have to kick you out of the trailer.-You'll be walking to Walmart to work the doors. People will pass by you and say "Isn't that great, they gave that special needs guy a job."you can respond "yeah, this is what I do when I am NOT training for the Special Olympics."Would you like to buy some lambgoat records releases to help keep me employed?"
^backfired, I messed up the sentence structure.- back to the trailer I go.
The cash grab to end all cash grabs. You're a dummy if you waste money on seeing this version of "Pantera."
shoulda tried a reunion in 2002 ^^^^^^^^^^^ so before they broke up?
They should ask the guitar player and drummer from Attila to do it, they are qualified for the job since they are my favorite band
LOL who said Wes Hauch sucks here? God Panterrible fans are such f*cking retards. Seriously that band invented nu metal.
hopefully the clones of Dime and Vinnie look and perform better than the Eminem clone. Jeez.. that model turned out like a steaming pile
I'm honestly more interested in seeing three versions of Phil ducktaped together moving in a circular formation
Phil was doing this was the Illegals and no one cared. His opening slot in the final Slayer tour was passable, but nothing to get excited about. Adding Rex to the fold brings nothing to the table. Phil doesn't move around the stage any more, has little energy, chews gum the whole time, won't be able to sing half the back catalog. This will play half empty House of Blues. Pantera was great back in the day -- but that day is long gone. Also, this is not Pantera and won't be billed as such.
Heard from a reliable source that Dwid's gonna sing.
Gibson TV released a video of Rex Brown talking aboit his signature Thunderbird, two days ago. They knew.
It's going to be Lombardo on drums, guaranteed.
No this band should stay dead lol. Horrible riffs, even more horrible fanbase, and yeah case in point.
Cavalera brothers would be fun, but Sepultura would be the elephant in the room so how would that work out? They could pick one of them but not both. The drummer and guitarist they choose need to make it about Pantera. With Zakk out of the picture, genuine and legit talent would be Scott Ian or Kerry King on guitar and Dave Lombardo, Charlie Benante or Gene Hoglan on drums perhaps.
Benante is a semi-lock for this I'd say. He played with Anselmo at the Vegas date of the final Slayer tour. As for guitarist, if no Zakk, King would be ideal, but not sure he'd do this in place of his own thing. Don't think Ian could handle Dime's leads.
The more I think about it, Kerry King and Charlie Benante would be perfect. These are the kind of guys who knew and respected the Abbott brothers, have the talent and passion to do it right and they're the kind of duo who would help Phil and Rex pack huge venues. If they decide on lesser-known or younger musicians, there will be way less of a turnout.
Dudes who beat their wives inside their double wide trailer and still support the true president of merica are stoked
all of you are retards. pantera sucks dong.
Wonder how many white pride speeches this time
Is Dimebags rotting corpse vaccinated? Everything except for the bullet-holes.
Igor Cavalera or Lombardo would be perfect on drums. Max wouldn't be able to play Dime's leads so scratch him out. Best guitarist options are probably Zakk Wylde, Kerry King, or Jeff Loomis, even though Loomis wouldn't help ticket sales.
Wouid you trust anyone wearing a Pantracist t shirt these days What about Robb Flynn for the guitarist?! 😂
Panera Bread is pretty good but its expensive. It's the perfect spot for 30 somethings taking out a 17 year old out on date. If you can't cook, still live in moms basement, but send creative enough DM's to score a date, hey, pretend you're employed and have your own money in order to buy that little kid some mac and cheese.
Hey Guys. I can confirm that Pantera is in direct talks with Patrick Sheridan, guitarist of Fit For An Autopsy, to fill-in as a hired gun. As many of you have asked previously, the going rate for such a role is $125/night, $10/day per diem, round trip budget flight to start/end the tour, 2-star hotel room per night, and venue catering. We've also been in touch with two hired gun drummers, Chris Daly formerly of Texas Is The Reason and 108, as well as Ray Weston of Right Said Fred fame. As either of these two would really bring a new level of drumming technicality to the Pantera lineup, their offers are a bit more substantive. $275/night, $25/day per diem, round trip budget-plus flight to start/end the tour, 3 star hotel room per night, and venue catering. Additionally, we're looking to hire a stage manager who has prior military combat experience as well as a concealed carry permit. Thanks, Dennis Arfa CEO / Artist Group International d.arfa@artistgrp.info
Saw Pantera when they were still intact 20+ years ago, would go see them (Phil and pals) now too. Just wonder what type of venues they expect to play at this point.
Todd Jones here. Long story short but Philip "Hed PE" Anselmo reached out to your mans to come down to swwwampay ole' Nodferatu's Lair to kick around some central nervous system-dissolving riffs of utter putridity. After huffing Delimer & Scale Remover Liquid: 06 SR that we bought from Snee Chemical for four hours, we turned them SPLAWN half stacks up and let the gore-drenched alpha pack outta da cave. Days later, we had finally completed our first single, "Ancient Moss Parts like the Opening of A Claw-Raked Granite Eye; Swirling, Unfathomably Enormous Arc of Distilled, Crystalized Mourn Revealed." After we came down from the Delimer over a period of rocky days, I found that Phil had accidentally locked himself inside of a wrought iron, ornate, gigantic bird cage on the property. Tears welled up in his eyes as he saw the frost-misted killing hide and molecular eagle visions descend upon my frame from dimensions unknown. Homeboy knew it was LATERED-o-clock. He will never be one of us.
If Zakk is in, then I will follow this entire tour when they're in Texas. No Zakk…no reunion.
anonymous 7 minutes ago Todd Jones can do no wrong. Stop Posting About yourself-You're schtick is old and played out, you unfunny f*cking retard.
Just because you played in a shit tier deathcore band and were able to save up $12k to buy three guitars doesn't mean you're dimebag 2.0. sorry bud.-just because you're stealing your neighbors wifi signal in the trailerpark you live in, Does Not mean your opinion holds Any merit or validity in this forum junior. Incels such as yourself remind me of that moron who posts as "Deathcore Jon." -E.A.D.
Yeah guys, Max Cavalera, the dude who only plays 4 strings because he sucks at leads is a f*cking great idea to play Dimebag's guitar parts.
Actually I take back Kerry King as an option. Throwing in Gary Holt
So it is Zakk Wylde, which makes total sense and was really the best choice imo from a ticket selling POV. Lets get Code Orange as support and I'm buying 8 tickets!!
