Malady breaks up, new bands formed

As has been rumored for many weeks, Virginia's Malady have in fact broken up. The group featured former members of pg.99 and City of Caterpillar, and recently released an album with Level Plane Records. Luckily, two new bands have formed in the wake of Malady's demise. Jeff Kane, Jonathan Moore and Kevin Longendyke, Malady's guitarists and bassist, will be hooking up with Darkest Hour drummer Ryan Parrish to record some new material, in addition to the final material Malady had written. The songs will appear on a full-length for Robotic Empire, though the group have yet to announce a name for their project. Meanwhile, Chris Taylor and Johnny Ward (Malady vocalist and drummer) have formed Pygmy Lush with Mike Taylor (Chris' brother, formerly of pg.99, Mannequin, etc.) and Mike Widman (Mannequin) [note: Mannequin is no longer a band]. The group will also be releasing material with Robotic Empire in the future.

good news...a pg. 99 reunion would be better, but hey. 2 new bands, plus the Malady material will be recorded in some form or another. could be worse.

I've gathered that hardcore/metalcore bands break up more frequently than celebrities paid to stir up fcking news gossip. Do they just wake up in a van in the middle of nowhere, Utah and realize they need a new hobby?

xcthc 5/30/2005 6:55:03 PM

how long has this band been around? 3-4 years? congratulations guys.

Pg. 99 are one of my all time favorite bands but I wasn't too into Malady. Looking forward to these two new bands.

corycamefalling 5/30/2005 8:41:18 PM

This does suck, but I'm curious to hear what comes out of the band shit going down with the Darkest Hour drummer. We'll see if he's learned how to play something other than 2 different beats.

tim 5/30/2005 11:49:06 PM

what SLK said pretty much, interessted in the Ryan Parrish project he was the original drummer of City of Caterpillar and is amazing. His drumming is amazing in Supression.

tim 5/30/2005 11:50:27 PM

ryebread is an idiot ryan parrish is amazing, he was the drummer on the city of caterpillar cd even though pat from majority rule took over after, and he is a drumming machine in supression

THUNDERFUCK 5/31/2005 1:02:27 AM

SUPPRESSION RULES. MALADY WAS HORSESHIT. WHO CARES. ANOTHER SHIT ASS EX-PG. 99 BAND BITES THE DUST.

vcreationv 5/31/2005 3:45:13 AM

soccermom 5/31/2005 2:39:23 PM

i can't keep up with these people anymore

chrismurder 5/31/2005 6:02:53 PM

as long as these virginia dudes make good music in some band or another, i'm happy. i loved pg.99, city of caterpillar, and malady... so word, anything else i'm sure will be good.

fhl 6/1/2005 7:40:01 PM

what soccermom said. these ex-pg. 99 dudes break up and form another band on the same day at least once a year. kinda silly...
