NYC councilman Justin Brannan looks to ban hidden ticket fees

Post CommentThis is great news. He also looks like Frank Black.
this dude was always so solid and caring. Good for him and good to see someone from this scene doing something to give back. He wrote this story that appeared in the insert of Downpours (ATL) "no lie can live forever" album, great read if anyone comes across it. Good move Justin.
The hidden fees are complete bullshit -- this is awesome.
While this is great and all wouldn't a better solution be to put a cap on the markup these companies call "service fees"?
Tackling the hard issues. Good on you. Fight the good fight.
The fees are a rip off but his argument is not accurate. You put your cc number in after you find out the final price. Plus, a $50 ticket doesn't go to $100, more like $70.
Justin's heart is in the right place but this "bill" is alot of grandstanding. For one, so what that you find out what the ticket fee is after you select your ticket/s? Second, if the ticket is $50 and the fee is $12.50, you can either buy the ticket or not buy it. You're paying $62.50 total whether you know about the total price before or after you go to the payment page. I doubt knowing what the fee is along with the admission will "shame" Ticketmaster.
If he really wants to make ticketmaster pay he should make all the managers and shareholders carry sheetrock for a week and see how they like it
Socialism is making its way into ticket sales. Great. Aren't there more pressing issues to deal with?
Really jumping on the big picture issues of our current political climate, thanks Justin! -TJ Cinnamons
For those I love I will pay high ticket prices
The truth is, after the addition of one "Rob Fusco" the band entered into a steep and continual decline. There is no denying this.
I'm unsure why Emmure wasn't added to this...pretty fcked up.
As is typical with all politicians, they conveniently misword the facts - 1, that the ticket price after fees doubles in cost (never the case) and 2, that you don't find this out until after you input all your info (you know before you agree to pay). If he cares, maybe should propose a bill to break up Live Nation. They own Ticketmaster and as the world's largest concert promoter, they use Ticketmaster whenever possible.
I'm normally 100 percent against further government regulation of anything but this right here has absolutely got to happen. Piece of shit ticket sales companies have pulled these pure horseshit tactics for way too long.
Blame Live Nation since they own Ticketmaster and are the ones pulling the strings. Not like Live Nation is gonna allow a third party ticket company to sell on any of its concerts.
