Official press release:
Louisville, Kentucky's Young Widows have issued a sizeable update (see the blog here), which includes the announcement of two releases on Robotic Empire.
The first is available now, a side-project called Bad Secrets which features Young Widows guitarist/vocalist Evan Patterson along with longtime friend Dan Davis (formerly of Kodan Armada). This debut release is composed of several weekends of improv jamming, whittled down to seven songs on a 9" vinyl + CD release (both formats packaged together). Each member of the band played guitar and percussion, with Evan handling most of the vocal duties. Along with that, both members also contributed to the creation and screen-printing of the artwork/packaging for this record, making it an appropriately DIY-feeling, strange release.
The first track from Bad Secrets' self-titled debut can now be streamed here.
It should be available from Young Widows on upcoming tour dates, and is also available now directly from Robotic Empire.
The second release will be available later this fall, a live Young Widows 12" recorded at the WMUC radio station in Maryland. Robotic Empire head honcho Andy Low jumped in the van with Young Widows back in April, and after the WMUC performance stashed the only copy of the recording. After getting the audio slightly beefed up by sonic guru Carl Saff, the band thankfully approved the proposed "bootleg" and thus this release was conceived.
A limited edition of 500 LPs on 180 gram vinyl will be issued later this fall, and more info will be announced as it becomes available.
