Ramones tribute covers albums to release in June, featuring Napalm Death, GWAR, Emperor, and more

Looks like we're going to be getting a couple Ramones tribute records this summer via Magnetic Eye Records. As the next installment of the label's "redux" series, which features an eclectic mix of artists covering entire records from legendary bands, there will be two distinct collections meant to honor Ramones. One will be a full cover of Ramones's 1976 debut self-titled release, and the other will be a "greatest hits" from across the band's discography. 

These two tribute albums have been curated by Grammy award-winning producer Marc Urselli, thanks to funding from a Kickstarter campaign that has garnered more than $6,000. 

Urselli stated:

The Ramones weren't just a band, they were a sonic revolution that challenged the established norms of popular music. Decades after their inception, the effect of their work echoes through the chords of new generations. Their music remains timeless, a testament to the enduring power of simplicity and authenticity. As the godfathers of punk, the Ramones not only shaped a genre but reshaped the essence of what rock and roll could be — a raw, unapologetic expression of rebellion and individuality.

The albums will feature some unique contributions such as Napalm Death with Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Voivod with JG Thirlwell, Kayo Dot with Ihsahn of Emperor, The Lombardo's Venamorsis with Eicca Toppinen of Apocalyptica, and many more. 

Expect a full tracklist and official release date soon, although the albums are currently slated for June.
