Sick Of It All frontman Lou Koller wraps pre-surgery chemo, shares update

Sick Of It All vocalist Lou Koller has completed his final round of chemotherapy ahead of an upcoming surgery to treat an esophageal tumor. The New York hardcore frontman was recently diagnosed with the condition and has been undergoing treatment as he prepares for surgery.
Yesterday, Friday, September 27th, Koller shared the following update via social media:
Hey, everybody. Lou here. I just wanna give you a quick update. Today was chemo session number four, last of the pre-surgery chemos. So now I have a month till the surgery, which is on October 24th. So far I feel okay. Little dizzy, little tired, body aches, same thing that happens all the time. Have my take-home pack of chemo right here. Mm-hmm. See, I get a bonus every time. I wear it for 24 hours and they then they take it out tomorrow. This is the one that really messes me up. So after tomorrow, I will be useless for, like, four or five days. So that's that.
I'm really thankful that you guys sold out the benefit show that quickly. The lineup is insane. It's gonna be an amazing show. I don't know if I can be there. Depends on how much I healed after the surgery. It's gonna be a good time in between the surgery and the show. But also, my doctor's advice was, 'Don't test your immune system in that environment.' What are you gonna do?
But, like I said, I'm doing good. I got a lot of chemo side effects, like numbness in my fingertips, losing hair… At least I got my eyebrows still… And I got my eyelashes.
I miss my hair. I hate looking in the mirror. I scare myself in the bathroom at night, like, 'Who the hell's that guy?'
Anyway, just messing around. I hope you are all doing good. And thank you for supporting me and SICK OF IT ALL.
I know Craig's out on the road with Marky Ramone, so go see that. And I think he might be doing some shows with JUDGE. Just write to the guys — write to Armand and Craig — and tell 'em hello. Keep their spirits up too. I'm doing all right.
All right, guys. Thanks. And take care of each other.

Post Comment2004- Sick Of It All, Terror, With Honor, and Champion at the house of blues. Wore a white studded belt into the pit and immediately got my ass kicked. What a time to be alive.
Too bad this clown and Nate Gluck couldn't have kicked the bucket together. So much for wishful thinking.
I know Craig's out on the road with Marky Ramone, so go see that. I'm sure that's magical.
Good luck to Lou. Sick of it all was the first hardcore band I ever heard.
Lou is finished as a vocalist thus SOIA is done cuz how is he sing, play shows & tours at age 60 with this? He'll only weaken his immune system if he does.
Broke edge to live. I don't blame him but he is not welcome in the scene.

^ Huh? Legitimate question: How is Lou gonna perform & travel after this? Dude will be 60 years old when he could even consider playing shows again - it's over unless he wants to wear himself down so much he has a weaker immune system to attack a potential future cancer.
If he beats this cancer & thinks he's gonna go back to touring at his age after cancer he is delusional.
he got cancer from singing. It was esophageal cancer, not finger cancer or some shit. It was his voice box from screaming every night. You ain't supposed to do that. You screaming gave you cancer and now you gonna do it again? What the doctors say? I bet they said yes to make another $50k but you better believe it ain't recommended

He should retire from music & if it means the end of Sick Of It All so be it but he won't quit cuz he thinks he can't do anything else. Roger Miret is playing with fire too playing & touring after cancer & a heart attack.
"He got esophageal cancer from playing smoke-filled rooms for over 30 years." then why is it always the singer that gets throat cancer? he's not the first. kind of weird to be a coincidence. why don't the bassists get throat cancer standing in the same rooms? you could be right that smoke filled rooms contribute, but the singing is what irritates and sets the foundation. Plus these guys were edge, their rooms where much cleaner than everyone else
