Close but no cigar

Love this record, stoked to check this out

anonymous 289 days ago

they are one of the very few bands that managed to do re-recordings the right way. The Vanity re-recording f*cking slaps, stoked to hear this. They should to this with Yesterday and Ink as well. The production was so terrible that the songs didn't translate well.

What is up with bands rerecording albums that sounded fine to begin with and making them worse? I get that it is a move to regain your rights to the songs, but God damn. Drums sound like straight asshole. And don't get me started on the 96 Bitter Beings abomination that came out this week. The state of the music industry is a joke.

Write some new shit instead. How about you guys try writing the best shit that's ever been written instead of living in the old days

anonymous 289 days ago

Deadline Records. Cleopatra Records. CMC International. Spitfire Records. Frontiers. Golden Robot Records. Any more?

anonymous 289 days ago

It's weird. I'm not a fan of this band but objectively speaking the re recorded version sounds terrible compared to the original. Drums sound awful.

anonymous 289 days ago

celebrating 20 years of the record that alienated them from huge swaths of the "metalcore community" because they blatantly tried to pivot into MTV2 crossover butt rock territory like some sorta Daughtry with breakdowns nonsense? wasn't it that failure to "crossover" that led to them being dropped by a major and fizzling out within a few short years?? hilarious how these shit bands try and retcon their career now. trying to celebrate/immortalize some dated ass metalcore band fronted by a hairdresser with pink chunks dyed into his head wearing an ascot. good luck selling less than a thousand reissues.

2007: "While the break-up might have appeared somewhat abrupt, frontman James Hart stated on his MySpace blog that this was not the case on July 13, 2007: "18V had been a band for 10+ years, [...] it just got to the point where we all had different goals and ideas for the band on a musical and touring basis. We all felt it was time to move on to something fresh and new." 2024: We're poor and struck out in every other endeavor in life. Please come see us and buy our 20 year old album again.

" What is up with bands rerecording albums that sounded fine to begin with and making them worse?" Because it didn't sound good to begin with. Listen to the original Vanity album and the re-recorded one. If you tell me that you'd rather listen to the original, you're f*cking nuts. Eighteen Visions are doing it right. All their pre-self titled albums sound f*cking awful. Give it a change to the new one.

anonymous 289 days ago

This record in now at needed to be re recorded. Honestly one of my favorite productions of a record ever. This sounds worse. I understand vanity and hopefully the records before but from obsession on they sounded so good. Waste of time

LMAO no You have no clue of what the f*ck you're taking about. Please refrain from making such comments without doing your research properly. Their butt rock album was the self titled one, not Obsession. Obsession is highly regarded as a metalcore classic and the reason that Epic Records signed them.

Rick's Stalker here. I saw Rick at the Gas Station the other day in Tampa, Florida. He was standing in front of a 6'7 BBC. Rick kept looking behind him at the BBC. Rumor has He was scared of getting analpoundingz from the BBC. Rick bought himself some Nachos and a silver ice Rockstar energy drink and ran out of the gas Station as fast as he could. It was the last time I'd ever seen him

Rick's Stalker here. Where are you Rick. I wanna fight you.

anonymous 289 days ago

The amount of ads crammed into this site are just absurd.

anonymous 289 days ago

I actually love this band, but I tried to force myself to like this in 04 and the original hasn't aged well and this highlights the butt rock parts of James vocals. Only highlight is no cutting the mustard in tower of snakes

anonymous 288 days ago

^ wasn't there.

anonymous 288 days ago

Sounds great. And by great I mean like total shit.

TopLadProperClobber 288 days ago

Great comments

"Their butt rock album was the self titled one, not Obsession. Obsession is highly regarded as a metalcore classic and the reason that Epic Records signed them." Yo this is just wrong. I Let Go is literally the song he is talking about and that WAS the MTV2 video where homie looked like Papa Roach. Also, I was around at the time and Epic struck a deal with them before Obsession, they even took over the rights of that record. You think you're right, but the first guy was actually right. This was the record that led to the s/t. That's all he said.

Eighteen Re-Recordings

anonymous 288 days ago

Almost no one liked this when it came out.

anonymous 288 days ago

James is single handedly responsible for 20 years of bullshit and they couldn't even capitalize on that and had to go butt rock in 2004 and fail mistakenly. "38. i was there. tower of snakes is a top 5 breakdown all time with memphis, time bomb, all hail the dead, american hollow and stiletto" 36 and was there. Agree.

anonymous 288 days ago

Rick's Stalker here. I saw Rick in Walmart the other day wearing a headband, sunglasses, and a greasy gray T-shirt with a cat also wearing sunglasses on it, and the T-shirt said "I do what I want" and Rick was yelling at a customer for buying the last box of Kleenex with lotion, rumor has it the lotion is for his mustache. Anyway the spat ended with Rick flipping off the customer as he said "I don't need this, I have an entire herd of people on lambgoat who will literally write about this moment in every single comment section and you'll be so humiliated." He swaggered off to the self-checkouts and bought himself some Nachos and a silver ice Rockstar energy drink. It was the last time I'd ever seen him.

anonymous 287 days ago

Also, posting your age doesnt mean shit. it just shows how you've sat complacent in an "underground" scene waiting for something new to latch onto. Your lives are jokes that write themselves. Go for a walk and leave your teen angst in the 90's where it belongs. sincerily- scene that, done that.

VottScogel 287 days ago

i'm here for this. Obsession rips and anyone who thought otherwise was always a stangry groce metalturd
