Sam Ash is shutting its stores down, huge closing sale on going currently
The closure of U.S. musical instrument retailer Sam Ash's stores has been officially confirmed, with store-closing sales beginning immediately following months of rumors and speculation. Sam Ash was founded in 1924 and became the largest chain of family-owned music stores in the U.S.
The company shared a social media post Yesterday, May 2nd:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that all Sam Ash Music store locations will begin store closing sales today. This unfortunate news also presents a fantastic opportunity for great deals across our premium selection of musical instruments & pro sound equipment. We will also be offering specials on samash.com during this time. Thank you for allowing us to serve musicians like you for 100 years.

Prior to making the tough decision to shut down all their stores, Sam Ash was looking for a buyer to purchase the company after store closures began in March. A reddit user vio212 posted about a company leadership email that went out earlier this week to inform higher ups about the closure, however explained that employees were not informed at that time.

Title says it all. Messages just went out to all company leadership but they haven't told employees yet.
If you are an employee at a still open store; sorry if this is how you are finding out.
Weird to be losing a 100 year old fixture in the guitar world but at the same time; I think it will create more space for mom and pops to soak up some of the business that was being drawn from online and from GC that Sam Ash drew as they acted as a sort of 'pseudo-mom and pop' trying to be more customer focused than GC but still try and have the selection of a mega store.

In September 2023, Sammy Ash (COO of Sam Ash) passed away after battling stage four melanoma. Currently Richard Ash is the CEO & President of Sam Ash.

Good. Guitars are dead instruments anyway. Nobody learns that shit anymore, it's literally a boomer instrument. Yes people in hardcore and metal use guitars but look at the wider world of music. Guitars are dead. So are most other instruments to be honest. But ask any girl what she thinks when she sees a guy with a guitar. Boomer. You can't be extreme anymore if you've been sounding the same for 30-35 years. Time to move on so f*ck Sam Ash and f*ck Guitar Center.

Bought my first guitar head at a Sam Ash. Peavy 6505+ biiiaaatch. That was early 2000s and the thing still cranks.
Just buy it on Amazon prime. Done. Who wants to talk to Guitar Center or Sam Ash weebs. Anybody who works at these stores is washed up and a total f*cking loser, why the f*ck do you think they give advice? Don't you think if they could actually play they wouldn't work there? They would be in a band touring or something? Or working at a real job actually doing something? Imagine standing around for 8 hours just waiting for someone to walk in like some passive pussy. Walk on to a job site and actually do something pussy.
