Guitarist Joel Omans has announced his departure from metal band Rings Of Saturn.
Omans, who has been a part of the band's lineup during two separate tenures—from 2010 to 2014, and again from 2018 until now—played a role in the creation of four out of the six albums the band has to its name.
In a statement released via his Instagram, Omans reflected on his time with the band:
After 10 collective years with Rings Of Saturn, I have decided today to leave the band. I had a great run co-creating 4 of the 6 albums the band has released. I got to travel the world and meet a ton of amazing people. I am truly grateful for it all. Thanks to all the fans who have supported the band and myself over the years. Onto the next chapter.
The current lineup of Rings Of Saturn consists of founder Lucas Mann and drummer Ryan Sinnott. Recently, the band made a shift to becoming an entirely instrumental act, a transformation that was completed in 2021.
Rings Of Saturn has yet to make a formal statement regarding Omans's exit.
The band now acts independently, mainly driven by Lucas Mann. Rings Of Saturn separated from Nuclear Blast Records in 2021, following a contentious interaction where Mann reportedly made threats toward the label concerning public denouncements unless certain demands were met.
The band had previously announced their decision to part ways with vocalist Ian Bearer, moving forward with an instrumental focus that they believe will broaden their creative horizons.
Rings Of Saturn thanked Bearer for his contributions at the time, stating,
We would like to thank Ian Bearer for his years of hard work and commitment as the voice of the band during its most recent 10 years. On tour and in the studio, it has been an honor to create and perform music alongside such a great vocalist.
The band went so far as to recently released a "NO VOCALS" t-shirt in their online store, seemingly to troll fans who constantly complain about this.
