Rammstein sexual assault investigation dropped, prosecutors cite "insufficient evidence"

Till Lindemann (Rammstein)

Berlin prosecutors have dropped their investigations into the alleged sexual assaults by Till Lindemann, the frontman of German metal band Rammstein

As reported by German publication Deutsche Welle, the prosecutors stated that there was a lack of evidence and testimonies from the alleged victims.

Lindemann's lawyers commented on the termination of the investigation:

"The rapid termination of investigative proceedings by the Berlin state prosecutor's office shows that there is insufficient evidence that our client allegedly committed sexual offences."

The initial accusations were made by a Rammstein fan who alleged that she was groomed for sex by Lindemann during a backstage encounter. Other women also came forward with similar claims. However, the prosecutors found the allegations to be too vague and lacking in specifics. The band members have denied all allegations.

Universal Music initially suspended all promotion of the band while investigations were taking place. Now that the investigations are closed, it is presumed the label will resume promotion. As far as Lindemann's book deal, given the nature of the initial complaint by the publisher about the book being used as a prop in a porn film, it seems that will remain in effect.
