Pantera perform "Walk" w/ Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven of Satyricon at Tons Of Rock fest in Norway

On June 23, Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven, lead singer of Satyricon, joined Pantera on stage at the Tons Of Rock festival in Oslo, Norway. Wongraven performed alongside the band for a rendition of the well-known track "Walk". The collaborative performance was captured by fans at the festival and is available to watch below.
Two decades ago, Satyr, the lead singer of short-lived black metal supergroup Eibon, along with Pantera's Philip Anselmo, Kiljoy of Necrophagia, and Fenriz, contributed one song to Satyr's label Moonfog Records' sampler, A Different Perspective. The band started working on their debut album, but it was shelved, and the project was never heard from again.
Satyr admits the project may have been ruined by Anselmo's severe addiction issues at the time in the late '90s and early 2000s. Satyr says he would find Anselmo lying passed out on drugs during studio sessions which hindered the project. Despite the issues, Satyr considers Anselmo one of his closest friends and one of best musicians he knows, adding that they would love to work on more music together.
Satyr said during an interview with Landry.Audio:
"Frankly speaking, it was Philip's addiction at the time that ruined this whole project. That's all there is to it. We can talk about this and that, but that's what it comes down to. At the time, he was beyond fucked up. Yeah, but he really was. We were in the studio trying to do things. I'd come out from the recording room, I'd find him lying, passed out on pills, heroin, whatever, on the floor, with his entourage surrounding him, not wanting to interfere or do anything that could offend him, because he was the big guy."
"And then I'd be thinking to myself, 'What the hell is this? I love this guy and he's a great musician, but I'm a black metal guy; I'm not a PANTERA fan. And when I travel from the other side of the world to come work, I'm here to work, not to do drugs.' So, for me, that was a deeply frustrating period that really upset me. But I consider Philip one of my very best friends and an outstanding musician, so, in one way or another, I would love to do more music with Philip at some point, that's for sure".
Ultimately, the project never materialized due to fallout, and all that remains is three poorly mixed tracks with one song featuring placeholder-style vocals.

Post CommentDamn Pantera finally acknowledged the greats by covering Periphery. The best version was Walk no vocals, but I'm sure Phillip could add a 'stand back and stand by verse' in 6/8 over the main riff which would be the first racist polyrhythm.
Satyr ran from the Krisiun dudes at a festival, they were gonna beat the shit out of him for being a racist c*nt. True story.
With Putnam was alive to get a chance to jump up on stage with them
Funny how cold black metal anti mosh icons are getting up on stage to sing with king of the mosh bands. I appreciate Phil still sings live but his voice is shot. I'm glad I saw them in the 90s.
Satyricon has been playing black & roll for 20 years now so I'm sure they are ok with some moshing at this point.
