Rammstein give new statement on recent allegations

Rammstein

As you might know by now, German industrial metal band Rammstein and frontman Till Lindemann have been at the center of recent controversy. In the past week, several women have accused Lindemann of drugging them while engaging in sexual acts. These allegations are currently under investigation.

Adding to Lindemann's troubles, his book publisher Kiepenheuer & Witsch has decided to drop him. The decision comes after Lindemann's 2013 book, In Stillen Nächten (In Still Night), was used in a pornographic video that, according to the publisher, glorifies sexual violence against women.

The band today responded in a statement made on social media, translated through software:

"The publications of the last few days have caused irritation and questions among the public and especially among our fans. The allegations have hit us all very hard and we take them extremely seriously.

We say to our fans: It is important to us that you feel comfortable and safe at our shows – in front of and behind the stage.

We condemn any kind of abuse and ask of you: Do not engage in public judgement of any kind against those who have made accusations. They have a right to their point of view.

But we, the band, also have a right – not to be judged either."
