Slaughter To Prevail say they will 'most likely sue' Sumerian Records

After releasing two albums with Sumerian Records, it seems as though Russian deathcore outfit Slaughter To Prevail may not be thrilled with the relationship as it currently exists.
Asked about his feelings upon signing with Sumerian in 2015 during a recent interview with EarzOnFire (see below), Slaughter To Prevail frontman Aleksandr "Alex Terrible" Shikolai says that he was originally "absolutely happy," before stating that the band is now "on pretty bad terms" with the label.
"I was absolutely happy," Skikolai explained (note: we're at the mercy of the Russian-to-English translation provided on YouTube). "I guess it was around 2015 and back then we were just starting out. Man, I was in a fool's paradise. 'We're gonna sign with Sumerian and everything will be hunky-dory.' But c'mon, you gotta be f*cking smart and legally competent to be able to sign the right contracts. We had no legal advisors, we had no one. We signed everything right away and right now we are on pretty bad terms with Sumerian Records. Most likely, we will sue them in order to terminate the contract and be able to move on our own. And by no means am I saying that they are bad, so-and-so. They gave us a huge head start, but it is us who made a wrong move building a relationship like this. We didn't give a shit then. And now we seem to have grown a little wiser and kinda woke up, you know. The issue is pending right now."
Subsequently asked if Slaughter To Prevail had "bigger offers" from labels, Skikolai said, "Yes, sure there were. But now we're embracing the idea of working independently and earning more money by moving on our own."

lmao ain't no way Sumerian is getting sued. I'm pretty sure the real reason why these Russian dudes are pissed is because Sumerian probably told them they would get paid in Jent coin and these suckers fell for it thinking it was bitcoin.
Never understood how a band could claim to have signed a bad record deal. Everything is right there in the contract. If you didn't actually read it, couldn't understand it, that's on you. If it's a "bad" deal, don't sign it. Not defending sketchy label practices, but c'mon, hire a lawyer before signing.

People here really don't understand the kind of predatory and illegal shit companies put in contracts on the hopes that bands won't be smart enough to push back on it. Companies across the world have been doing it for decades and will continue to do so because it's insanely profitable to extort those you sign to a contract and keep under your thumb financially, making it so difficult it's unlikely they can afford to seek legal help to fight what they're under.
Sumerian is a shit show. Couldnt even buy a digital copy of an album from one of their artists on the sumerian website. Had to go to some random site. Literally wouldve been five times easier to pirate than pay for it.

This band should've had a lawyer or a good lawyer look it over then give it a thumbs up or down. If up sign it, if down don't - real simple. They read, write, speak & can comprehend spoken English. They're whining that they got tricked but it'll never pass muster in court. You signed it, you agreed to it, you will abide by it. If you have definitive proof that it was a scam - forgery, a signing by a member on medication from his hospital bed etc. you have zero case. Read the contract then get the ok to sign it by your lawyer. Being from Russia doesn't excuse ignorance.
