How do you sum up someone like Caleb Scofield in a facebook status? We all loved him deeply. We were all truly lucky to call him a friend. We all loved the music he made and we were all inspired by him. The news of his passing is a hard pill to swallow. We will miss him. Rest in peace friend.

Yesterday the world lost a very special person: Caleb Scofield. He was deeply important to us as a friend, tour mate, roommate, collaborator and human. He was a great father, a loving husband and his loss will be most deeply felt by his family. Horrible to hear about the passing of a truly great human and musician. Caleb Scofield was incredibly talented and a part of so much important music. Cave In has always been a very important band in heavy music; A band that showed everyone it's ok to think outside of the box and experiment with things outside of hardcore. My first tour with BTBAM was opening for Cave In and Converge. (A dream tour for a metal and hardcore kid like me.) We made life long friendships on that tour and went on to play more shows together over the years. My most heartfelt condolences go to his family, band mates and fans.

One of my greatest influences as a bassist died in a freakish car accident at a toll booth in New Hampshire last night. Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom, etc) was 39 years old, leaving behind a wife and two kids. He was a legend who no one really talked about much. Gone way too soon. I know Caleb still had a lot left in him. R.I.P. to one of the greats of my generation.
