Well, our worst fears have been confirmed as After The Burial guitar player Justin Lowe has passed away in Wisconsin.
Lowe was reported missing on July 18 in Washington County, MN. His disappearance came just weeks after he issued a troubling statement, followed shortly by word from After The Burial that Lowe was mentally ill, though receiving treatment.
Lowe's body was found by a hiker Tuesday evening beneath the Arcola High Bridge near Somerset, Wisconsin. His vehicle had been found in a parking lot nearby in Minnesota. Authorities state that the cause of death is consistent with a fall. Additional information can be found here.
Lowe was 32-years-old. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

My cousin has schizopherenia, and this sounds exactly like him. It's really depressing that he wasn't able to recieve enough help. It's extremely difficult to deal with a paranoid schizopherenic, they don't believe that they are safe, and when you try to re-assure them, if you do it wrong they will think you are 'in' on the 'conspiracy.' Schizopherenia is a terrible mental illness. Absolutely terrible.
I really hope someone can shed some light on this elaborate convolution alluded to in his initial unorthodox statement. We joked about old times, different bands from the Midwest, and basically talked bullshit. For as good as he was, he was never a piece of shit about it. Along with putting most of those who ever picked up a guitar to shame, he was one of the most humble people on the face of the planet. I suffer from schizophrenia. It tears people apart and can kill. Thankfully, my life and profession have been saved by treatment. Justin accomplished more than most healthy people ever could. Unfortunately, the cruelty of this world is clear due to some of these comments. We all have listened to a bunch of bands preaching that we have to "be part of the solution, not the problem." It's safe to say some of these pustules computer screens are part of the problem. They'd do well to wake up.

I am a mental health professional and was aware of Justin's behavior prior to his tragic death. It's upsetting and concerning regarding the negative and ignorant comments being made about mental health and Schizophrenia. Rather than negativity, conspiracy theories, etc....you should ban together and start an organization on "Mental Health Awareness" in Justin's name and truly honor his memory in a positive way!!

Let me clarify....I was not Justin's Doctor and his behavior was brought to my attention by my son, who asked for my opinion because he was very concerned about his friend!!!
I am so beyond saddened by this. One of the best dudes and one of my favorite musicians to date is gone. I feel that it could've been prevented if he had gotten the right help. I say this because I recently came to a point in my life where I was ready to "transition to the next life", and before I was truly able to carry out my plan, my family stopped me and I was checked into an inpatient mental health facility where they provided a safe environment, diagnosed the mental illness,
and immediately began treatment options. Looking back, seeking help/being admitted was what truly saved my life and I wish that Justin could've received similar help. Mental illness IS real and shouldn't be shrugged off/taken lightly. RIP brother.
