Neurosis: funds sought for guitarist's ailing wife

Scott Kelly and wife Sarah Sarah Kelly, wife of Neurosis co-founder Scott Kelly, is currently dealing with an unidentified illness that has left her unable to walk. With medical bills beginning to mount, a campaign was launched yesterday to raise funds for the Kelly family. Here's the situation, as detailed by family friend Karrie Morton:
"Sarah woke up on Tuesday March 24th unable to walk or see. She was immediately admitted to Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, OR. As of today, (Sunday March 29th), the doctors are still not able to identify an exact diagnosis. Currently, her eyes have gotten significantly better but she is still not able to walk. She has begun rehabbing in the hospital, but it's slow going. "While most people know Scott from his work with his bands (Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Corrections House, etc...), his most cherished role is that of a father and husband. As he stays close to Sarah at this time, medical bills and every day living costs are building. I'm asking you to help where you can, spread the word of this fundraiser and please keep Sarah in your thoughts.

Bring a father of 2 boys. I could only imagine how torn his family is right now. Hope she gets welL man.

Hmm...maybe if Neurosis toured, like, ever, he'd have some money.

anonymous 3/30/2015 11:19:50 AM

Scary shit! Sounds like some sort of extreme diabetic condition perhaps? I wish them the best! Not a fun situation to be in!

anonymous 3/30/2015 12:51:29 PM

Seriously, you're in one of the biggest bands of the genre and you never tour. Smarten up and you'd be all set. I guess just asking for hand outs is easier though

anonymous 3/30/2015 1:01:07 PM

god, you are dicks.

anonymous 3/30/2015 1:06:17 PM

sucks about his wife but I doubt he'd give me any money if our roles were reversed

anonymous 3/30/2015 3:16:39 PM

It's sad what's going on his wife and I wish her well, but I will never understand this. Why does anybody in a band think that their fans owe them anything regarding their personal lives? I'm not being insensitive or a dick; I'm seriously curious. Every adult has unexpected expenses.

anonymous 3/30/2015 3:25:10 PM

Asking for handouts just cos you're in a band is dumb

anonymous 3/30/2015 3:32:38 PM

who cares if they ask? You aren't obligated to donate, idiots.

anonymous 3/30/2015 3:48:07 PM

Less time on doomy riffs, more time on the neurot health insurance plan.

I'm usually against this kind of thing, but I love Neurosis and they paid their dues. AFAIK Scott Kelly tours quite a bit, not his fault Neurosis can't.

anonymous 3/30/2015 5:12:46 PM

These guys are like millionaires amirite? It sucks, and I love neurosis- but really, don't ask for money for yr personal shit. I have health care bills and student loans, wanna help out?!

anonymous 3/30/2015 7:35:54 PM

He actually didn't ask for any money. Mark Morton of Lamb Of God's wife actually started the campaign. Scott deserves whatever we as a community can give back. This isn't your shitty fcking band needing money to record a cookie cutter record. Half of you fcking idiots that post on here haven't even been into heavy music or on LG long enough to even realize the impact of Neurosis as a band on all of heavy music.

anonymous 3/30/2015 9:55:24 PM

Yeah, respect your elders!!!!!!.......and give them money when they need it

I hate the children on this site. No clue about life, or how expensive it is. No clue how difficult touring is. A donation would be appreciated but if you can't just go buy a friend instead.

anonymous 3/31/2015 7:29:52 AM

Actually I think people do realize how expensive the real world can be. That's why it's so silly to see successful artists asking for money.

i adore the MTV cribs episode where they accurately film the inside of the cave most of you web board jockies reside in.

sounds like MS. my friends mom had it and this sounds exactly like what she went thru. One day, cant walk, next day can walk but cant see. Terrible affliction.

anonymous 4/2/2015 5:45:19 AM

Keep your condescending attitude dude. The fact remains. His music is a product, we pay to buy it, we pay to see it- they put it out there and we PAY them for it. This type of relationship flows one way. The only legitimate way for this to work is a kick stater thing- free shows to those who gave money. One on east and one on west would be good. Sad to see a band with so much (usually) credibility beg.

anonymous 4/2/2015 7:32:26 AM

its funny to see the difference in opinions here. My conclusion is it's 50% people who grew up with a DIY punk/hardcore community ethic and 50% people who got into this 5 years ago. and with the younger generation, I highly doubt you BOUGHT much. Stupid conversation anyway, if you want to give, go ahead, if not, don't.
