SoundCheck Hollywood shuts down

SoundCheck Hollywood, the "lifestyle music store" launched by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen more than three years ago, shut down for good last week. The decision to close was announced a few weeks ago:
"It comes with great sadness to announce the upcoming closing of SoundCheck Hollywood. For the last 3 1/2 years, we have made a mark on the sunset strip by connecting bands with their fans and did our best to help keep the music scene alive on sunset. It has been an uphill battle for us since day one but we did our best to bring something new and unique to the strip. "With the recent closures of various clubs / landmarks on sunset it has become more clear than ever that this isn't a place where a lifestyle music store can survive. "Thank you to all the fans / customers we have had over the years and all the support you have given us!"

Sucks record stores, for the most part, can't stay afloat nowadays.

I met the ultimate warrior there. Ownership sucks but I respect that they tried to make this alternative record store work. Ameoba is stoked

Why didn't Ash Hole quote himself? Why did the Warrior guy stop working with Ash? You see his crib? All of his agents left him after he bought this place while they were renting apartments.

Here's the crib. Wonder if Bounty Count hangs out there and twerks? http://losangeles.blocksho pper.com/property/23800300 02/8045_mulholland/

I loved this place. I remember going in and finding albums like Dimmu Borgir's "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" and their EP "Godless Savage Garden", as well as Cradle of Filth's "V Empire" and Marduk's "Opus Nocturne". This was a great record shop. And for the record, Asking Alexandria deserves some credit for "From Death to Destiny". RIP Soundecheck Hollywood.
