SoundCheck Hollywood, the "lifestyle music store" launched by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen more than three years ago, shut down for good last week.
The decision to close was announced a few weeks ago:
"It comes with great sadness to announce the upcoming closing of SoundCheck Hollywood. For the last 3 1/2 years, we have made a mark on the sunset strip by connecting bands with their fans and did our best to help keep the music scene alive on sunset. It has been an uphill battle for us since day one but we did our best to bring something new and unique to the strip.
"With the recent closures of various clubs / landmarks on sunset it has become more clear than ever that this isn't a place where a lifestyle music store can survive.
"Thank you to all the fans / customers we have had over the years and all the support you have given us!"
