Asheville, NC business Lexington Avenue Brewery was temporarily shut down Sunday night show following an incident involving Charlotte band
Young And In The Way. YAITW had been on hand to perform at Empire Tattoo's anniversary celebration and at some point during their set, the band reportedly sprayed pig's blood everywhere.
Obviously, animal blood is not something a restaurant-brewery wants on premises. According to
WLOS ABC, the brewery promptly contacted the Buncombe County Health Department to evaluate the situation. "There is no concern for food safety," said Sue Ellen Morrison, lead communicable disease nurse with the health department. "It was nowhere near the kitchen area."
Regardless, brewery co-owner Mike Healy was not happy. "[Our employees] have kids, groceries and bills, and now they are out of work for several days," Healy said. "I will do everything that I can to compensate them."
A third party has been contracted to clean up the mess, though it will apparently be no small task. Healy explained, "There was so much [blood], that we might have to rip out out the stage. It's a very dire situation."
For the record, YAITW does not agree with the way the situation has been been portrayed by the venue. You can expect a statement from them later today.
