Tiger Flowers sign with Melotov Records

Official press release: Melotov Records has announced the signing of New York City's Tiger Flowers. Melotov will release Tiger Flowers' debut full-length, Dead Hymns, on April 8th. "Hometown heroes" of the New York scene, in the words of MetalSucks, Tiger Flowers are renowned for their cathartic sound and unfiltered realness. Their live shows are the stuff of local legend and their brand of metallic hardcore unites unhinged aggression, bottomless melancholia, and swaggering rock n' roll. BrooklynVegan has likened the band to "elders who pushed the genre into new directions, like Deadguy, Converge, and Rorschach". Exclaim! Magazine described their 2011 self-titled EP as "uncompromising, brutish, and noise-filled." Founded in Los Angeles in 2008 by Melanie Voltz, Melotov Records has released music by The Banner, Ghostlimb, Bone Dance, Calculator, and more. Melotov's releases are distributed exclusively by Deathwish Distribution, the distro arm of Converge frontman Jake Bannon's revered label, Deathwish Inc. Melotov's Melanie Voltz's comments "When I first came across Tiger Flowers, it was on the recommendation of a trusted colleague who had sent me their split video with Meek Is Murder, for the song 'The Weight'. I was hooked on the first watch. I have a soft spot for 90s screamo and initially that's what I had heard, with all the start/stop rhythms and general chaos. But then the levee breaks and the heaviness just submerges you in a murky abyss reminiscent of old Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die. I was addicted. I hit them up immediately afterward, they sent me the tracks for the LP, and the rest is history. I'm lucky these talented dudes wanted to work with an independent label like mine. I'm so stoked on this project."
