Enfold Darkness and Sumerian Records part ways

Tennessee black/death metal band Enfold Darkness has announced their split with Sumerian Records, with whom the band signed in 2009 and released one album that same year. Guitarist Matt Brown has issued the following statement:
"By now, I am sure many of you have heard the rumors that we are no longer a part of Sumerian Records. Simply put... the rumors are true. A few months ago, Enfold Darkness and Sumerian Records mutually parted ways. This split was not a bad breakup by any stretch of the imagination. I cannot stress enough that there was and is no bad blood between Enfold and Sumerian. We simply fulfilled our contract with their label, and now we are pushing forward into new and uncharted territory. "Our time on the Sumerian roster was a great experience for us. Although there were many hardships along the way, we gained new exposure that we wouldn't have otherwise seen due to the release of our debut record, Our Cursed Rapture, and our placement on their in-house booking agency, Pantheon. Through this organization, we were able to tour the U.S. and Canada with bands that have influenced us throughout the years and have been constant sources of inspiration for the members of Enfold Darkness... namely Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Obscura, Pestilence, The Faceless, and a whole host of bands that we were greatly honored to tour with. So all in all, we would like to thank Sumerian Records for allowing us to 'get our feet in the door', so to speak. The years we spent under their leadership really 'showed us the ropes' and helped us to become a nationally touring metal act: something we will always be grateful for. "But what about the future? Where do we go now? On that subject, let this be known as the starting point for a new and glorious future for Enfold Darkness. Every day, our new album (title soon to be announced) gets closer and closer to completion, and I am very confident that it will be released on a label that will be a perfect match for this project. We are facing very exciting times indeed. "Anyhow... now that this chapter in our history has passed, let's look to the future and get excited for a second Enfold Darkness record! It is coming sooner than you think. We are stoked, and we can't wait to share these new songs with you in the near future."

Excellent band. I'm not sure why they even signed with Sumerian in the first place. The new album will be killer. Best of luck in finding a new label guys, it won't take long

sweet enough band and all, but nobody heard any rumors. Neither of your die hard fans checked twitter that afternoon. Take your weird cradle of filth worship to the kickstarter-o-sphere where more people will care, but in a "calling you gays" kind of way

I guess you could say this band really "stinks"

4 lengthy paragraphs to say what could have been said in 2 sentences. Write a novel about it why don't you.

I foresee their sophomore album releasing via Metal Blade during Summer 2014 with a subsequent national tour as support for The Black Dahlia Murder and Cattle Decapitation during Fall 2014. You read it here first.

Enfold Darkness is not going to "call it quits." They have the most solid lineup I've ever seen and the new material far surpasses the old. Saw them at Louisville Deathfest this year, blew my fcking mind! Good luck to you guys!

This band was far too good for Sumerian.

"Enfold Darkness is not going to "call it quits." They have the most solid lineup I've ever seen and the new material far surpasses the old. " Except the whole "lack of people who care" thing could be an issue.

I don't think anyone who plays extreme metal thinks anyone gives a shit. Otherwise they'd play something more popular. Dumbass

anonymous 9/18/2013 2:24:52 PM

Yeah, sure thing, bub.

Good news! They'll get picked up by a more suitable label in no time, I'm sure.

anonymous 9/19/2013 12:24:48 PM

Maybe they would have done better on Sumerian if they wore girl pants and sang like someone cut their balls off over breakdowns.. C'mon guys, get with that shit!

anonymous 9/19/2013 11:53:26 PM

not like they do shit anyways, lazyass band

anonymous 9/20/2013 9:42:23 AM
