The Dream Is Dead guitarist Jared Southwick has died as the result of "a liver and kidney condition," for which he was recently hospitalized. Earlier this month, the band issued the following:
"We just want to confirm that Our guitar player Jared is indeed gravely ill right now at a hospital in Muncie with a liver and kidney condition (and all the complications that come with it). Thanks everyone for all of your concern, kind words, and visits. We know that he and his family appreciate it. Please keep him in your thoughts."
Southwick's condition apparently deteriorated and he passed away yesterday evening at the age of 34. His funeral will be held on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church on Riverside Avenue in Muncie, IN.
The Dream Is Dead will play their final show at this year's Dude Fest. Bassist David Lawson had the following to say:
"Thanks for all the memories, and thanks to everyone whoever booked us and put us up, out just put up with us. The Dream Is Dead will obviously be no more, but longtime tdiddy compadre and member carl byers will play us out for our last show at dude fest 2011."
Notably, Southwick was also a member of Indiana death metal band Harakiri.
Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.
