As a result of a chronic elbow injury, Paul Bostaph, Slayer drummer for the past several years, is leaving the band. Bostaph has decided that the injury will prevent him from performing to his fullest potential and intensity. According to Bostaph, "It’s been an unbelievable ride with Slayer. Playing with these guys has been an incredible high point in my career, and I am really grateful for the experience." Dave Lombardo, current Fantomas drummer and a former member of Slayer, will rejoin the band temporarily for the next leg of their God Hates Us All tour, which begins on January 24th. To most Slayer fans, Lombardo will always be considered Slayer's true drummer, as he appeared on such fan-favorites as 'Reign In Blood', 'Seasons In The Abyss', and 'South Of Heaven'. Here's what Lombardo has to say about spending some time with his former band: "It’s great to be back with Slayer for the tour. I’m psyched to get out there and kick-ass with them again." Following the tour, Slayer will begin an intense search for a new, permanent drummer.
