i was listening to entombed - clandestine the other day. that's a good one. dismember and grave put out a couple fun ones too. gatecreeper really tries with this style but they're not as good at riffs as the swedes were

Yeah, just heard the new album, and I like that their inspiration is more Dismember and Entombed than Gothenburg (because we've had far too many of those bands) and I think it's fine just not as good, and certainly not as original as those Swedish bands. My favorite track from Gatecreeper remains that 11 minute song from their 2021 album.

I feel like this album is that 11 minute song stretched out, but I get it. An Unexpected Reality was good too. I'm just happy to have a younger band that plays this style of music that isn't saying stupid shit or adding in dumb gimmicks. That counts for a lot these days.
