This is what happens when I try to use the modern Internet:

As with countless other "decentralized" things, I looked into The Federation / Fediverse. From their site: "we expect sites we list to have a humane code of conduct in place. Should sites who fail to ban content that can be found generally harmful, that node will be blocked from listing here." That makes no sense grammatically, but it continues: "Harmful content can be, but not limited to, malware, graphical material of minors, abusive images, hateful content, racist content and climate denialism." In other words, the whole thing is controlled by the exact same truth-suffocating, hateful scumbags as the centralized giants, rendering it utterly pointless.
I had finally found one single source on the known Internet providing a certain bit of data, and set up my cURL bot to fetch it daily. It was not long before the requests started failing. Looking into it, I realized that they had just switched to the dreaded CloudFlare "Cybermafia Protection Services", meaning both my normal browser and my bots were presented with this "anti-bot" screen which obviously stops the cURL bot, but also I, as a human, with a full-fledged, JavaScript-enabled browser, still had to play their tiresome, endless "monkey-solve-puzzle" game where I'm forced to help Satan/Google train their spy AI, collecting data about me with every single pixel my cursor moves.
BitTorrent used to be a very efficient and nice way to grab various large files and archives. Now, it's seldom possible to even start the download at all. Connections are inexplicably "refused", and it's rare that any torrent ever finishes, typically stopping perpetually after a certain percentage, forcing me to delete the file and give up on it after patiently waiting for many days. To add insult to injury, the only non-spyware client left on Windows (Deluge) hasn't been updated since 2017...
I created an account at Mixer (video streaming, hoping that it would suck less than Twitch). Much to my initial surprise, it actually did let me register, and even sent the activation e-mail whose link I followed. However, when trying to log in to the "created" account, it then lets you know that "This e-mail address isn't allowed". Not another word. Just that. As if it were the registration form.
Ever tried to ask any question on Stack Exchange? Even if you type it perfectly, picking the ideal pre-existing "tags" and everything, they will quickly vote it down out of spite, "close" it with a randomly picked excuse, redirect it to an old, irrelevant question with useless "answers", or outright delete it completely without a trace, not even read your question at all before "helping" (because they are only looking to increase their "reputation score" and have zero interest in actually helping), and then delete (or even modify) your text/responses, while keeping the troll comments and blocking you from commenting on your own thread. And that's if you're lucky; normally, your question will be completely ignored...
Recently, after Microsoft had bought GitHub, I tried to log in to an account of mine in order to reply to a reply on an issue thread. I was only mildly shocked to learn that they had locked me out with a message about having sent a "verification code" to the throwaway e-mail address I used when registering, obviously long since abandoned and inaccessible. Apparently, having the right password is no longer enough to prove that you control an account. (I could never get back into it, resulting in a dead end for the issue.)
I needed to buy some Bitcoin. Every single centralized exchange now requires "photo ID", in some cases attempting to make me take a photo of myself standing with my photo ID (which I don't even have, and won't be getting) in front of my face in the mirror... Naturally, this was never said up-front -- only after registering and (in some cases) sending them crypto coins, which they proceeded to keep perpetually "for my protection" (in other words, they stole it)... For this particular issue, there actually is "sort of" a solution, in the decentralized exchange application Bisq. You are still not anonymous to the fiat seller, since you need to do a bank transfer (or other fundamentally compromised payment methods), but at least there is no central harassment with photo ids. Sadly, not too many people use it, you always pay quite a premium over the market price, and it cannot be used for your very first Bitcoin purchase since they require you to "deposit" (into a smart contract) some BTC as security each time you buy...
Need an alternate e-mail account in 2021? You naive fool! I went through literally every single obscure "free e-mail" service known to man, and they all lock me out with "verify with phone" screens now, or don't allow new registrations whatsoever. Or show perpetual CAPTCHAs. Or give fake error messages. The only exception used to be Tutanota, but they have now begun flat-out blocking all Tor/VPN users, and perpetually refuse to accept Bitcoin payments (they are still allegedly "working on it", years after starting to accept Bitcoin donations), just like ProtonMail and Hushmail. It's thus not even possible to pay to get an anonymous e-mail account anymore. No joke.
I now regularly get a nag window on Insult Exchange saying: "Are you a human being? [...] Check the CAPTCHA box, and we'll be out of your way." ... But there is no "CAPTCHA box", or any kind of form element anywhere for me to click/submit. Just an empty void. I wish I were making this madness up...
After hearing about this new "Facebook killer" in 2021 called MeWe (what an idiotic name...), I registered an accou... no... wait... nevermind: "We're sorry, something seems to have gone wrong. Please try again soon." (It of course didn't matter how many times I "tried again".)

I tried numerous times to create an account on Plenty of Fish (dating site). Every single time, no matter what information I inputted into the registration form, it would give fake error messages about how the "username is already taken" (even when trying impossible, ridiculous ones full of random alphanumeric characters).
