bull, if you listen to this i'll tell you what happened.
on the topic of random weeewaws and grumblin growlin bombles. (1:52/1:54)
but bull u gotta watch it all
evil_hero 7/9/2022 11:51:23 AM
that was pretty sick. that low low note is pretty dope. makes shit kinda ominous
dog_boner 7/9/2022 11:57:17 AM
I really like having the extra range, it's super interesting when you aren't just chugging. I cop reyes' style hard, I like that Latin/classical vibe but you can still tell it's written by someone that listens to metal.
dog_boner 7/9/2022 11:58:06 AM
If you tune the low f# to an e, all of the 6 string chords are the same. You just barré them bottom three strings like a regular drop d guitar.
RAGINGFUCKMAN 7/9/2022 11:59:02 AM
he uses that low E tuning? so its basically the bass rudiment. that's really neat and I, like a moron, always thought of 8-strings specifically as Djent K0rn things. eggs on my face.
RAGINGFUCKMAN 7/9/2022 12:00:12 PM
when i saw someone playing a seven string in a drop tunning and using 3 string range at most, i decided I would never even look at or listening to anything that knowingly, to me, contained one. sheesh.
dog_boner 7/9/2022 12:01:45 PM
Exactly, it gives way more depth to a solo performance. You can still play with a bassist, you just eq out the lows and it still fits. 8's are too tempting to just sit and meshuggah the f*ck out of it, so they got a bad name
RAGINGFUCKMAN 7/9/2022 12:03:05 PM
well, there's nothing wrong with meshuggaing out, its when the whole thing is meshuggaing out without .... using the time signatures or mixing in enough interlude or chord build work so the composition is more fusion jazz and less 1990's WWF wrestler themes with an 8 string.
RAGINGFUCKMAN 7/9/2022 12:04:14 PM
but yeah, that's cool because playing bass sometimes with people, you're not often as free to range because you have to keep the foundation going. i mean, not going super f*cking crazy, but that low string on the 8-string can basically ride for you it seems like. at least thats how id use it or like it to be used if i were on a bass
RAGINGFUCKMAN 7/9/2022 12:05:50 PM
some of the nu-metal or djent or whatever stuff i've heard with 8-strings just in passing (those, oh f*ck what is this, X OUT) youtube scenarios... but this is better than anything any of them have ever done and they should all just cover this with different austin promos screamed over the top of it imho
dog_boner 7/9/2022 12:05:57 PM
For sure. If you use the entire range, more strings are better. Check out this beast
