Tool drummer diagnosed with 'serious staph infection'

According to Tool guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey was diagnosed with a "serious staph infection" just hours before the band was scheduled to perform at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA on Saturday night. Against doctors advice Carey played the show anyway, earning the respect of Jones, who had this to say:
"I truly have to respect Mr. Danny Carey who played the entire show with a very serious Staph Infection. At first on Friday morning, he was misdiagnosed with a poisonous spider bite on his upper leg. Then later Friday night the quarter sized wound was cut opened and drained. By Saturday [he] was still aching from head to toe and from what I heard the Local Doctor recommended we skip the show. But Dan with headaches and painful joints played anyway."
As of yesterday evening, Carey is reportedly "feeling better," though a venomous spider bite has not been ruled out.
