Ten years ago Buffalo, New York's It Dies Today
was one of the most popular metalcore bands around (their debut full-length The Caitiff Choir has sold nearly 90,000 copies to date). However, in 2006 frontman Nicholas Brooks exited the group and things seemed to go downhill from there, culminating in the band commencing an indefinite hiatus in 2010.
Fast forward to Ferbruary 2014, and It Dies Today announced
that they were back in the studio recording material for a new album. Notably, it was also revealed that Nick Brooks was back in the band.
Today, Lambgoat is exclusively debuting the intial fruits of their labor, a new demo track titled "Son of Dawn, Brilliant Star," the first new song in eight years from this lineup. You can stream it right now here:
To coincide with the song premiere, It Dies Today has also announced that they will play a limited batch of shows to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Caitiff Choir.
Brooks comments: "I honestly could not be happier to have the opportunity to not only play shows with these dudes again but to write and record a new album with them as well. This has been such a humbling experience thus far, our fans are so insanely supportive. They have really inspired us to want to play music together again and play this album in its entirety in a live setting. We all are just so thankful to get the chance to write a new chapter for this band."
