Villains "Lonely Bastard" song premiere
Villains unveil the first single from their upcoming debut album, Freudian Slip.
Illinois bruisers Villains recently announced that they will release their debut full-length Freudian Slip on November 11. This is an entirely DIY effort, as the album was self-produced and recorded by the band in the studio of drummer Cody Ratley, and will be self-released.
In advance of the LP's street date, we've partnered with the band to officially premiere Freudian Slip's first single, "Lonely Bastard." That was REALLY f*cking bad. The guys in Villains seem like nice enough dudes, but it's pretty obvious from this that just like Sworn In they're just a studio hype band that falls to pieces without razor-sharp production. Kind of a shame but who can feel bad for trend-hoppers who misstep?
People who think Villains sounds like Sworn In are the dumbest people and know nothing about the Illinois heavy music scene. Kingmaker, Barrier, Villains, and Sworn In could all fit on a show together but any true fan knows that they are all different in their own way. Let's be honest everyone hates Sworn In now because they are "emo" or whatever so everyone hates any bands associated with them? The Death Card was an awesome album and Freudian Slip is going to be just as good in its own way.
I feel like villians and sworn in and almost ever other band like this sound the same. Not saying they suck, just saying, originality and personal twists and like, little personality traits in this band are lacking, whatever, its not my life. Do whatcha do, boys.

Saw these guys for the first time a few days ago. They put on one hell of a show. They are NOT a studio band. I enjoy how different the vocals are. They sound frantic, chaotic, and desperate.
