the 250 best selling musicians of all time

The folks at Digital Music News have compiled a list of what they purport to be the 250 best-selling musical artists of all time. Drawing their numbers from the Recording Industry of America (RIAA), these figures reflect United States sales (i.e. not worldwide sales).

Not suprisingly, The Beatles top the list with 178 million (solo releases from Beatles members account for another 40+ million). Personal favorites of mine such as Billy Joel and Pink Floyd also made the top 10. The top metal band is, of course, Metallica, with 62 million. Ozzy Osbourne makes an appearance in the top 100 (some 70 spots ahead of Black Sabbath), while Limp Bizkit appears at #150, with total U.S. sales of 16.5 million.

Here are the top 100 (to view the entire list, head here):

The fact that guns n roses made it so high in this list with barely 2 albums is outstanding.
