Is Suicide Silence about to announce a new singer? The new guy might be...

Suicid Silence

It's obviously a tragedy that Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker passed away; but life didn't stop for bandmates Chris Garza, Mark Heylmun, Alex Lopez, and Dan Kenny last fall. They are four guys whose livelihood was essentially Suicide Silence, a band whose last release debuted in the Billboard Top 30.

There have no doubt been countless discussions among them as to how to proceed in the wake of Lucker's death. Do they carry on with a new singer? Do they just break up and go their separate ways? Do they form a new band with a new name? When do they announce their decision?

I'm sure every fan has their opinion, but it's really only a question they have a right to answer. That said, I'd be truly surprised if they just broke up and each did their own thing. They had too much collective capital in the band to just let it all evaporate. It's a delicate balance, obviously, as they have to be respectful to Mitch, but at the same time they have their own futures to consider.

Timing is everything, and six months ago rumors surfaced that Suicide Silence had found a replacement for Lucker. The timing certainly didn't seem right at that point, and rumors proved to be nothing more than rumors.

However, here we are, nearly a year since the death of Lucker, and it seems like the band needs to do something soon, or completely lose whatever momentum they previously had. Break up or carry on. In other words, the timing could now be right.

With that said, during the past two weeks, we have received tips from various sources that the band has in fact found a new singer. These sources are anonymous, however, a few things about their submissions seem to suggest some legitimacy (I won't go into details). For that reason, I'll publish what has been communicated to Lambgoat: Suicide Silence has found a new singer, and he is All Shall Perish frontman Eddie Hermida.

Hermida is no stranger to the band, and even performed at the Mitch Lucker Memorial Show last winter (you can view footage below). For a host of reasons, he would probably be a good fit for Suicide Silence.

Now, let's take a step back. These are RUMORS. Nothing has been confirmed or announced yet, and it could all be bullshit. Personally, I don't think it is, but I'm sure we'll find out one way or the other very soon.

UPDATE: Not exactly shocking, but just hours later, the band has come out and now confirmed that they are continuing on with a new singer.

who fcking cares?

anonymous 10/2/2013 6:16:47 AM

I really hope All Shall Perish doesn't break up. It's understandable Eddie would take the opportunity, but it's clear who the better band is.

I Love ASP & in my opinion, this is a terrible idea on so many levels. Idc, I hope it's not true.

anonymous 10/2/2013 6:24:44 AM

what would happen with all shall perish? and i think suicide should call it quits and start a new band

anonymous 10/2/2013 6:47:33 AM

I am with everyone else. Eddie singing for Suicide Silence is a horrible idea. He sounds nothing like Mitch.

SuckMeBeautiful 10/2/2013 6:56:05 AM

All Shall Perish is basically done anyway. Orom left, and the only other original member Tiner barely even tours with them. I think Eddie knows sinking ship when he sees it.

I always thought Cameron Argon would have taken his place because they were best friends and I thought he'd be the only exception. He's also a great vocalist in DTG. If this is true though, it'll be interesting.

anonymous 10/2/2013 6:58:49 AM

I was all-in on the replacement being Nate Johnson.

anonymous 10/2/2013 7:20:14 AM

they didn't want a singer that would be a Mitch carbon copy. Eddie did great at the memorial show too. Him and Mitch were good friends as well. This will be a good move on all parts.

maclynb 10/2/2013 7:31:02 AM

lol @ the comment above saying cameron argon would be the vocalist are you fcking stupid no, he doesn't do live vocals and is pretty occupied with big c as it is

With the new addition of Rob Marimonete from Fallujah I think ASP was on the track to write a killer fcking death metal album and easily could have done it. Adam Pierce ( ASP Drummer) said recently that ASP is still going strong and not going anywhere. Hopefully thats true. But I think Hermada joining Suicide Silence would be an awesome thing, he would really bring a different feel to that band and I think it would make them less of a trendy deathcore band

Let's just say they'd be beating a dead horse if they kept playing that shitty brand of nu metal with blast beats. All shall perish sucks fcking dck now too hahaha

Trying to find a new singer for Suicide Silence is going to be really difficult. Mitch had a very distinct sound and finding a new singer; in my opinion, they wont sound as good because they wont have that same sound. They are going to have to find a pretty damn good vocalist.

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:22:56 AM

Why the fck would you want the new singer to sound like Mitch? They're obviously not trying to replace Mitch, just trying to continue with their career. I've been backstage with suicide and asp and Eddie is a really good friend of theirs and I feel this is an amazing opportunity not only for suicide but for all shall perish as well. Both of these bands were great in their own way and noes the time for them to come together and bring back the metal. fck ya I'm stoked !

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:25:14 AM

Eddie in suicide silence!!! Fuuuuck yea! If this is true I'm down with it. fck the haters.

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:49:59 AM

The rest of the band needs motorcycles.

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:54:08 AM

Why so worried about ASP? You know a musician can be on two bands at the same time? lol please.

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:56:07 AM

This is definitely the time for SS to shit or get off the pot. I know luker is one of the most difficult frontmen to replace and I I personally believe that Eddie is a good replacement but ASP needs him just as much as SS needs a new vocalest. Whether it's Eddie paying homage to mitch and the band or just looking for a new project I believe his heart belongs in ASP.

"sources are anonymous, however, a few things about their submissions seem to suggest some legitimacy (I won't go into details)" This is a music news site, you're supposed to give us the details. I don't read this for your speculation

anonymous 10/2/2013 9:20:36 AM

if theres anyone who could replace mitch it would be eddie... name another vocalist that can compete. go ahead ill wait

anonymous 10/2/2013 9:35:26 AM

I hope they all perish. On Christmas Eve.

anonymous 10/2/2013 9:42:50 AM

Both of these bands are awful and you are all a bunch of deathcore gays.

anonymous 10/2/2013 9:52:47 AM

Robert Meadows on vocals would be the only way to make this band interesting again

anonymous 10/2/2013 10:32:54 AM

omg please dont leave asp for SS, man im gonna have an heart attack

anonymous 10/2/2013 11:33:16 AM

I know its someone who already has been around so this would make.sense. When I talked to Alex he said they found someone they could grow with, cause they didnt want another mitch, cause lets face.it, mitch is mitch, no one can replace him. So this move seems plausible to me. Eddie has an incredible range

Arkham256 10/2/2013 11:39:01 AM

I think Eddie is a good choice, but if it comes down to it, I'd much rather have ASP than SS any day. Black Crown was stupid.

anonymous 10/2/2013 11:49:46 AM

It is the All shall Perish singer, the guitarist lives in my town, and his good friend confirmed it with me :(

anonymous 10/2/2013 12:46:11 PM

I vote as I lay dying gets the singer from ligeia

fourthgradecocktease 10/2/2013 2:04:15 PM

Dang, I was really hoping that it would have been Greg wilburn from oblige/ the devastated, he sounds more like Mitch than any other candidate. Eddie had too much range for this band, his voice is almost operatic at times and ss has incredibly simple song structures. He's over-qualified in my opinion.

ineedmoresalt 10/2/2013 2:33:14 PM

anonymous 10/2/2013 2:36:01 PM

i thought jay-z was going to be the new singer.

anonymous 10/2/2013 6:22:46 PM

They need to move on from SS and rename the band. Suicide Silence isn't really going to be Suicide Silence ever again, and it just makes the most sense to do since Mitch is gone.

anonymous 10/2/2013 8:51:58 PM

I don't know how to feel about this. It almost all feels wrong regardless if the band needs to continue forward. Eddie's voice gives the band a whole new different sound. Maybe they should let Suicide Silence slowly die off with Mitch and begin new, because now it's not Suicide Silence anymore. Especially if the bands plans to go a different direction. Thumbs down in my opinion.

anonymous 10/2/2013 9:59:24 PM

At least Suicide Silence's vocals won't fcking suck now. Mitch Lucker was a terrible vocalist.

anonymous 10/2/2013 10:23:01 PM

LOL @ "operatic" deathcore vocals, you are a giant gay.
