Starting as a typical, aggressive hardcore band, Clutch played its first show in August 1991, and released its first material on its debut 1991 seven-inch, "Pitchfork," on Inner Journey Records. The band would also record an EP ("Passive Restraints") for Earache Records in the United Kingdom, and on Relativity Records in the U.S. Clutch would make its major label debut in 1993 on Eastwest Records (Orange 9mm), a division of Atlantic Records, with its full-length, "Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes, and Undeniable Truths." In 1995, the unit's self-titled, second full-length would be released by Eastwest as well. Clutch's third LP, "The Elephant Riders," would be published on Columbia Records in 1998. In 2001, Clutch would find itself back with Atlantic Records, releasing its latest full-length effort, "Pure Rock Fury." The band's earlier works ("Pitchfork" and "Passive Restraints") have been re-released, as well as another full-length, "Jam Room" (1999) on the band's own label, River Road Records. Throughout the band's long career, it has shared the stage with just about everybody, including Bad Religion, Fu Manchu, Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, and Marilyn Manson.
