I'm sorry, but I love mosh. I always have, and from the looks of things, I always will; the desensitization that has happened for so many does not appear to be happening to me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loath this current nu-mosh craze, with bands like Beneath the Sky exploiting and essentially raping the triplet so as to get kids “fucking moving,” but nothing beats an exceptionally-crafted junjun part. The kind that lets you relax for a moment, soothing the brain and the discontented, Hardcore-posturing soul. Which is why I, like many others, immediately latched onto The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza, perhaps one of the quirkiest (and yes, I am going to say it, heaviest) mosh-based hardcore/metal bands out there. When that EP (and subsequent full-length) came out, I was blown away; here we had a band that could writer killer songs that weren't dumbed down and cookie-cutter but still could get our windmills working. They'd throw in West Coast rap breaks, stupid rock riffs, and then bring the heavy with a ferocity I hadn't seen in a long time. It seemed too good to be true. And it was, to a degree. I'm not saying this new record isn't good; it really is. What I'm saying is the novelty is gone. Tony Danza is on Black Market Activities now. They're touring with the Acacia Strain. Because they've been given a good label and a fighting chance, they are trying, to a degree, to stake their claim as a viable commodity in Hardcore today (reflected by the intended intensity and more-serious tone of this record). And ultimately, that's fine. The grooves are still there. This thing is heavy as shit, and the crowds are definitely still guaranteed to get out of hand. And it's not as if they're trying to be deathly serious either, with skits such as the first track "T.R.O.U.B.L.E." letting us know these boys are still about havin' a good time. You pretty much know what's up the second you put the disc in. Tons of chaotic riffs taken from the Ion Dissonance/Calculating Infinity school, heavy, pulsating rhythms, constant (if somewhat monotone) screaming vocals that manage to keep a personality, and ridiculous breakdowns. Not to mention the song titles, which are even funnier (if not dumber) this time around. For those who were wondering about their new drummer, this new guy fits into the fold perfectly, carrying this monstrosity on a tastefully-done backbone. What is odd about this record is that there are some really memorable parts on here that don't have to do with the almighty mosh (see the beginning of "I Don't Mean to Impose, But I Am the Ocean" or "The Electric Boogaloo"). On par with what reviewer Rob Mcfeters said of the last record, they are still utilizing all of the fret board on their guitars, and beautifully at that. Their high-to-low work is totally on point, and they've written some of the more entertaining riffs I've heard this year. The vocals are still scathing as ever and in fact even more so (scope the gutturals on "Go Greyhound"). Everything is clearer and more defined, which gives the music an air of actually being music, not just a wall of shittily-produced metalcore from an anonymous Southern band that mysteriously came out of the woodwork. Well, ok, is that really a problem No, I guess not... However, be prepared to have to start taking this band seriously. I know all you good little cynics never did, but really -- this band is trying their damndest to not fall into the fray of bands whose stories consist of "Man, they put out that one EP and the shit was slammin but then they dropped off and started sucking." I like and appreciate that this is happening, but it's a different story from here on out. It sounds as though I'm bemoaning their good fortune, but I am not. I just don't yet know how to take The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza as anything more than that band you've got on your iPod that makes people grin and yell, "Ooooh!" They're gonna have a career now, and part of their past charm was that they did not. Bottom Line: Black Market Activities picked up an asset with this one, no doubt. You all know who this band is, and you have your opinions formulated. If you bought into it the first time around, you'll care, and maybe you'll be disappointed because it's not as ridiculous and novel...maybe you won't. In fact, you shouldn't. Check this record out, it really is pretty good. But just remember, Tony Danza is now a band, not just a mosh. Take that as you will.

cameo_ 11/17/2007 1:17:52 PM

this dude loves the f*cking mosh

dudeski_ 11/17/2007 1:33:45 PM

He's too damn biased about the mosh to write a credible review on this CD. Get someone that actually listens to grind-like music to review this, not some idiot who does spin-kicks to Emmure...

chadster_ 11/17/2007 1:54:50 PM

I could only get through the first paragraph, what a gay. Shit band, shit review, shit reviewer

keep it wolf son_ 11/17/2007 5:14:45 PM

mummycircuits_ 11/17/2007 5:35:04 PM

this guy doesnt (maybe does) know how to get his points off [(maybe with inner thoughts in parenthesis he can sound intellectual and down to earth at the same time) or does it]

gaot_ 11/17/2007 5:42:04 PM

are you serious, webby? how did this review even get posted? lambgoat.com is a f*cking joke.

huh, apparently one person counts as the whole band. man, i must be retarded... anyway, new tonydanza > new ion

cmd_ 11/17/2007 9:15:42 PM

im not a fan of mosh or this band....but i dont understand what you gays are whining about....what exactly do you want a review of a mosh metal band to say? have you ever read a review you didnt hate? what a bunch of crybabies

A K U M A _ 11/17/2007 9:25:43 PM

I dont' understand the reviewers point...at all.

kidd_ 11/17/2007 11:10:32 PM

i don't see the problem with the review, tony danza was a mosh band and now they're trying to be metal. that's a point worth making.

Selvin_ 11/17/2007 11:26:07 PM

I understand where James is coming from, and I'm pretty well sure he saw all of the hate coming from refering to a band's 'mosh.' Regardless, Danza II = CR00SH.

ugh_ 11/18/2007 1:12:52 AM

YO BRO'S, I LOVE THE MOSH, THEREFORE THIS CD CRUSHES SKULLS. I PUT IT ON MY IPOD AND I GRIN BECAUSE I CAN GO AROUND TOWN MOSHING TO THIS CRUCIAL MOSH(really when did "mosh" become a genre, anyway...) ALBUM. *SPINKICK* *SPINKICK* *SPINKICK* *SPINKICK* BAWAAAAH!!! OH MAN SORRY I GOT CARRIED AWAY. THANK GOD FOR THIS EXCEPTIONALLY-CRAFTED JUNJUNJUNJUN PART TO LET ME CATCH MY BREATH AND CONTINUE MY RANT. ANYWAY YOU GUYS, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, YOU EITHER LIKE THE MOSH OR YOU DON'T YOU KNOW?

showusourhomes_ 11/18/2007 2:19:26 AM

Carroll and Wossman are high schools in my town.

gglives_ 11/18/2007 3:20:01 AM

when a review starts with "I'm sorry, but I love mosh." I disregard the rest entirely. You suck, and so does this horrible excuse for a band.

LetMeEatThePooFromYourAss_ 11/18/2007 3:46:00 AM

shocking, convoluted review

Little Barry_ 11/18/2007 4:09:47 AM

I am so pissed that my dad isn't giving me the proper attention I need and he failed to give me the CREDIT CARD for the mall today. f*ck it! I am just going to get on lambgoat and talk shit... I really wanted to go buy a cliche 4/4 metal cd today though. I really want to be in but right now i think its cool to say f*ck things with the other guys. so yeah f*ck this shit!.......... mom just got home.... she is more interested in her flower bed than taking me to the mall to buy some cool jfac ts

promotedmartyr_ 11/18/2007 2:11:23 PM

sir, are you being facetious? He really does not like 4/4, JFAC, or deathcore thats for certain.

Konstrix_ 11/18/2007 4:20:43 PM

this record reminds me of when heavy music from the early 21st century was good.

Hulk_Hogan12_ 11/18/2007 5:18:50 PM

basically what this review is saying is this cd is just breakdown after breakdown. and the parts that arent breakdowns are just fillers leading into breakdowns. bands like this give me the hope that if i lose one arm i can still play cause i only need to chug.

thalassa_ 11/18/2007 6:02:15 PM

man, some of you people are the DENSEST motherf*ckers I've ever run across on the internet. I don't like the band, and will never listen to them. But the review is very nicely done. the goat should stick with this guy.

tommy_ 11/18/2007 10:53:10 PM

this review is gay as hell. i do like this bands first ep alot. although skits or filler trackers are never ever a good idea. but i'll prolly download this

anonymous 11/18/2007 11:39:48 PM

they'll always be gnarly .... love the tech and heavines and they are just hilarious and put on a f*cking amazing show.... they are an exception to people who call them metalcore...

behran_ 11/19/2007 1:03:45 AM

I think I remember seeing this dude post a thread about waiting for this to get posted...I believe he said that he wrote it completely hammered....I guess that shows...shit review, haven't heard the cd...probably won't

anonymous 11/19/2007 1:04:18 AM

i read the first paragraph and none of the comments. this is gay shit to the extreme. f*ck you.

uhhh_ 11/19/2007 2:52:48 AM

Not as good as the self titled but a sick album. And Carroll 14 Wossman 7 brings the MOSH!!!!

arty_mcfarty_ 11/19/2007 6:18:52 AM

this review actually made me long for cory

casketcrusher_ 11/19/2007 10:26:31 AM

everything about this review, from the comments, to the score, to the band, reviewer, record label, etc etc etc. Is gay as f*cking aids. when did lambgoat start harboring such blatant f*cking gayry. i know you're desperate for reviewers alex, but did you actually read this trash heap before posting it?

truthsayer_ 11/19/2007 10:52:20 AM

*brings teh mosh, votes for Fred Thompson* - this band

nate_ 11/19/2007 11:03:47 AM

He's too damn biased about the mosh to write a credible review on this CD. Get someone that actually listens to grind-like music to review this, not some idiot who does spin-kicks to Emmure... you're a f*cking idiot. grind is the opposite of this. grind=speed. plus it is a good review. he just happens to really like the type of music that tony danza offers. it's called difference of opinion, dumbf*ck

bovice_ 11/19/2007 12:05:52 PM

Awesome album. Heavy as shit! More shred and tech this time. Demolishing grooves! Good review. The new drummer is amazing!!!!

Rule_ 11/19/2007 2:38:17 PM

Writing music in signatures other then 4/4 does not make you "Tech". I havn't gave this is listen yet, but the previous album was just a bunch of random shit all crammed together off-beat. The only reason the bands big is da name folks, don't forget.

bigego_ 11/19/2007 5:41:40 PM

gay nonsense music

BMA_ 11/19/2007 6:20:01 PM

Mosh, mosh, mosh...all day long. Mosh, mosh, mosh, while I sing this song. And buy this record here: http://www.indiemerchstore.com/blackmarket

Little Barry_ 11/19/2007 8:06:28 PM

Rule, define technical music?

fart blast_ 11/21/2007 11:06:54 PM

I love this shit

Little Barry_ 11/23/2007 12:08:08 PM

That is the exactly the reply I expected.

Rule_ 11/23/2007 7:10:27 PM

I'm not going to waste my time explaining terms you wouldn't understand. If you knew music, you wouldn't of asked this question. If you want technical music, listen to Jazz man.

hussle_ 11/23/2007 7:23:04 PM

your review is longer than all the lyrics tdtde have ever written combined

dude_ 11/27/2007 12:59:32 AM

this review is f*cking suspect. MoSH BRo!

Stankbutt_ 11/27/2007 2:18:31 PM

Why is everyone on lambgoat so angry and so set on calling anything and everyone a gay. im next after posting this...i like tony danza ^^gay^^^

XcableXguyX_ 12/5/2007 11:51:47 AM

Why no AxCx reviews? Seth shits bands like this out daily.

marchingbandsucks_ 12/6/2007 4:46:05 PM

perfect review for this band...hardcore reviews arnt supposed to be serious, it wouldent be fun if they were..especially on LG., eat shit haters!

wingman_ 12/11/2007 8:23:49 PM

yeah, once again, people hate on a great band, a band that is completely the opposite of Deathcore and or Grind. you guys need to get your shit straight, or youll end up looking like the girl that got hit by the bus in Final Destination. seriously is this review that bad..... dont think so. arguing over the net is like winning the special olympics. your still a loser

LavaLegs_ 3/28/2008 12:45:53 PM

I'd rather listen to a "band" than a "mosh" anyday, so it sounds good.

smallcockbigheart_ 4/18/2008 11:15:46 AM

This is some seriously awful mallcore crap. 1/10 is what it deserves the drums sound fake, the riffs go nowhere and the little skits are just retarded. Most especailly the artwork which is the worst Ive ever seen. All around poop noise. What a disappointment, buy the new Pig Destroyer

turds?_ 3/22/2009 9:35:46 AM

Whoa what happened to this band? First album was the jam this shit is just horrible. Like REAL horrible

stevejeff_ 6/5/2009 11:49:53 AM

none of you can write or play like them. if you can, tell me what your band is called, and unless it's "Isyou" your opinion is worthless. learn music, morons.

Cay Rizzy_ 7/6/2009 11:51:55 PM

i started listening to the tony danza tapdance extravaganza in this alternative school i went to (we did all our work on computers and were allowed to listen to music) the first song i heard from them was the cliff burton suprise and i was blown away the screams in a way remind me of that screamo shit but the guitars prove its no where near screamo. i forgot about the band when school ended and just now rememberd them and i went and bought the album danza II: the electric boogaloo which beats th
