Arma Angelus Where Sleeplessness Is Rest From Nightmares

This is Arma Angelus's debut for Eulogy. Their sound hasn't changed much since their last outing for Happy Couples Never Last Records. They continue to play metallic hardcore, often utilizing slow, doom-style, guitar riffs. There's a good amount of subtle variety to the group, from the infusion of melody on tracks like "For The Expatriates Of Human Civilazation", to the slower, deliberate aggression of "Misanthrope", and finally to the catchy (as catchy as music of this type could be) up-tempo grooves of "We Are The Pale Horse." There's a good amount of vocal variety as well. Most of the vocals consist of throaty yelling, but these are spelled by higher, distortion-free yells. This isn't amazing stuff, but it is a good record. Although we prefer the version of "Misanthrope" that appeared on 'The Grave End Of A Shovel', by in large this album is an improvement.
