Official press release:
Crash Music as officially announced the signing of a two-album deal with Bay area metal band Skinlab.
Skinlab is an alternative metal band formed in 1994 by singer/bassist, Steev Esquivel, former guitarist, Mike Roberts, and drummer, Paul Hopkins. Skinlab quickly began making a name for itself in the Bay Area music scene; which brought the attention of Machine Head's Robb Flynn, who would go on to help the band secure its first record deal. Century Media Records issued their debut album, "Bound, Gagged and Blindfolded," in 1997. With the departure of Roberts in 1998 the band quickly recruted guitarists Scott Seargant (Killing Culture) and Snake (Skrew) and went into writing mode which led to the Eyesore E.P to help introduce the new line-up with a limited edition release of only 5000 copies which to this day remains a cult classic with fans worldwide. In 2000 the band entered El Paso's Village studio with returning producer Andy Sneap to record Disembody: The new flesh, which also went on to become an underground favorite for die hard metal fans around the globe. After 18 month's of touring for "Disembody."
In 2003 Skinlab parted with guitarist Scott Seargant introducing Glen Telford to the line-up just as The Revolting Room was recorded, which was the high point of the bands recording collection. Showing the band move in more of a heavy melodic approach not only in writing but production as the band worked with producer Steve Evetts and bringing in Andy Sneap to round out the ulitmate mix. After touring with metal heavyweights Slayer in 2003, the band went on a 4 year hiatus. 2007 saw Skinlab returned to do a brief tour in the United States; before heading back in the studio to record a new album. Five years later Skinlab are back with a vengeance intoducing Julian Peach, formerly of December, who has recently been chosen to replace Glen Telford as a full-time member of the band. Skinlab will enter Trident Studio in the months of November through December, with Juan Urteaga, and begin recording the first, full-length album for Crash Music. It's release is due in in 2008.
Skinlab's Steev Esquivel had the following to say on signing with Crash Music: "We are very pleased to sign with Crash Music. They have shown tons of interest in Skinlab. We're excited about the future of Skinlab and look forward to making a new crushing album!"
Crash Music president Mark Nawara comments: "We are very thrilled to be working with Skinlab and look forward to a solid future together."
