Dominic Burris sentenced to 23 years in prison following mass shooting at DIY Minneapolis punk show

In August 2023 the Minneapolis, MN punk scene lost one of its own when a mass shooting took place at a DIY venue/home Nudieland, the aftermath also left 6 injured when two gunman opened fire. 

Dominic Burris, 18, will spend 23 years in prison for second-degree murder (of August Golden, 35) and first degree assault. 

Burris was 17 at the time of the attack when he arrived at Nudieland in search of alcohol, but was turned away by Golden. Ultimately Burris and a second shooter, Cyrell Boyd who was also 17 at the time, would return to the house/venue and open fire, targeting Golden.

Boyd, 18, who claimed to only fire his weapon in the air, also plead guilty in juvenile court to aiding an offender. His plea deal allowed him to avoid prison but was sentenced to to Red Wing juvenile center to receive treatment and must remain under the state's supervision until he is 26.
