Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small is developing a heavy metal thriller film

Metalocalypse co-creator and Dethklok frontman Brendon Small is thinking big for his next on-screen project.
During a recent appearance on the Everblack Podcast, Small revealed that he's actively developing a live-action, feature-length film – which he describes as a "heavy metal thriller." Small explained that the movie would feature new original music, which he's currently working on alongside the script. That said, actually getting the project greenlit seems to be the most significant hurdle at the moment. Still, Small implied that the new music would likely see the light of day in some form of fashion, regardless of whether or not the film gets made.
Alongside Tommy Blacha, Small created the adult animated series Metalocalypse, which aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block for four seasons from 2006 to 2012. The show also spawned a rock opera television special in 2013, followed by a feature-length animated film in 2023. Metalocalypse follows the adventures of fictional heavy metal band Dethklok. Small fronts a real-life version of the band, who are currently getting ready to tour Australia this April before heading to Europe in June. The European leg of the tour will culminate in an appearance at Hellfest 2025.
