Down has begun recording their first new album in 17 years

Sludge metal legends Down appear to be officially in the studio, working on their long-overdue follow-up to 2007's Over the Under. While the band's most recent release was the 2014 EP Down IV – Part Two, fans have been anticipating a full-length effort for years to follow up 2007's Down III: Over the Under.
Recent photos from the studio confirm that the NOLA supergroup—featuring vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, guitarists Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein, drummer Jimmy Bower, and bassist Pat Bruders—have begun tracking new material after months of writing sessions.
Though no release date has been announced.
Down will join Danzig, Abbath, and the Cro-Mags in March for a West Coast run and are currently also scheduled to appear at Milwaukee Metal Fest in May.
