The Black Dahlia Murder announce new album 'Servitude', release lead single "Aftermath"

The Black Dahlia Murder announce 10th studio album Servitude, set for release on September 27th via Metal Blade Records. This marks their first album since the passing of vocalist Trevor Strnad, with Brian Eschbach taking over vocals and guitarist Ryan Knight returning to the lineup.

Coinciding with the new album news, the band has also released "Aftermath", the lead single off the new album and the first offering with Eschbach on vocals since taking over the role of frontman. 

Eschbach shared the following speaking about working on the new album:

I just had to lean into it hard,. Honestly, writing the lyrics for this album was easier for me than writing the music for the three songs that I wrote music for. I'd pick a subject, research it, and just kinda dive in. Even though it's not something I'd really ever done before, there was a natural flow to it once I started.

We wanted that very aggressive BLACK DAHLIA melodic death metal feel coming right at you. Lyrically, it's about a meteor that fucks up the whole planet, but there's still people living. Kind of like The Walking Dead, but with no zombies-so you get right to how people deal with it. And by the end, they're eating each other.

Starting tomorrow, The Black Dahlia Murder return to Europe for their first European tour since 2019. The tour includes performances at festivals such as Party San, Download, Graspop, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze, and more. Select dates will feature support from Suffocation, Shadow of Intent, and Decapitated.
