The Word Alive comment on Zack Hansen's dismissal after allegations of domestic abuse surface

Yesterday it was reported that The Word Alive guitarist Zack Hansen stepped away from the band, and now, the band has commented on the matter.

Today, May 31st, the band shared:

As soon as we were made aware of the situation directed towards our guitarist, Zack, we immediately asked him to step away from the band. We do not condone any domestic abuse whatsoever.

On May 28th, multiple videos were shared on X/Twitter by Hansen's partner.

Those videos could not be embedded but initially appeared here. She has since made her account private, though replies to the videos can still be seen. Below is a screenshot from one of the videos where Hansen appears to spit in her face.

In subsequent posts, she commented:

I'm very well aware that I may not have handled his abuse in the best way in the past but I'm sick of protecting someone who drove me to react. I have never put a hand on him that wasn't in defense of myself.

Also there's no such thing as being a completely neutral party in this situation, lol either you support an abuser, or you don't. Bye !!

anyone who thinks this is easy for me is so sorely mistaken. I loved that man with my whole heart and this is the hardest thing I've ever had to come to terms with

In the videos, the two can be seen arguing as Hansen attempts to leave, and in one video he finds the Blink camera on a table and says into it, "I f*cking hate you", before disabling it.

If you or someone you know is dealing with domestic abuse, help is available. Contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE) or visit The Hotline.
