Savage Lands (comprised of members from Megadeth, Obituary, and Sepultura) recently intervened to save 60,000 square feet of rainforest along the Costa Rican coastline from deforestation. Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) and musician-activist Sylvain Demercastel utilized royalties from their debut single to purchase an ecological easement covering over 90% of the endangered area. Although Savage Lands doesn't own the property, their purchase ensures that not a single tree can be cut down.

Savage Lands, operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit co-founded by Dirk and Sylvain, relies on donations, fundraising, and song royalties to collaborate with other non-profits, scientists, engineers, and metalheads. Their mission is to create nature sanctuaries, establish green zones, and undertake various land preservation projects.

Supporting Savage Lands is as simple as listening to their music, as 100% of all royalties contribute to their reforestation efforts.
