Exhorder guitarist Pat O'Brien (ex-Cannibal Corpse) to work on solo project

Pat O'Brien (Exhorder)

Former Cannibal Corpse and current Exhorder guitarist Pat O'Brien is working on a solo project, as announced recently in a post on Exhorder's account.

Exhorder responded to fan's questions by confirming O'Brien's status with the band. The band wants him to continue as long as he wants to be a part of the group, and it sounds like that is the case, as O'Brian stated "I am in Exhorder and will be contributing as well moving forward."

While O'Brien has been a touring member of Exhorder since May 2022, the group also acknowledged the assistance of Waldemar Sorychta during their Latin America tour. O'Brien originally made his live debut with Exhorder at the 2022 Maryland Deathfest, three months after the departure of guitarist Marzi Montazeri.

The band shared:

We have been getting a lot of questions asked about whether or not Pat O'Brien is a permanent member of Exhorder, or if he will perform with us when we play Latin America in December/February. The good news is Pat is our guy. He wants to be in this band moving forward and we want him with us as long as he wants to be. Unfortunately, he is still sorting out his travel restrictions, and is limited to shows in the United States at this time. Therefore, we are fortunate that our friend and brother, Waldemar Sorychta is once again stepping up to help us bring the show to you all in Latin America!

But even though Pat is not present on social media, he has given us a statement to share with you all:

"I am in Exhorder and will be contributing as well moving forward. I will also be on tour with the band when I'm permitted to. I also will be doing a solo project at some point but no solid plans on that as of yet."

We're looking forward to seeing everyone on tour soon!

O'Brien is still sorting out travel restrictions related to legal issues dating back to December 2018, when he was arrested for burglary and assaulting a police officer at his Florida home, which was engulfed in flames at the time. The situation involved a reported break-in at a nearby residence and the discovery of various weapons and ammunition at O'Brien's home.

Following O'Brien's legal issues, he was replaced in Cannibal Corpse by Erik Rutan in early 2021.

Despite the issues, Exhorder is set to release their fourth full-length album, Defectum Omnium, on March 8th via Nuclear Blast Records. The album, featuring 12 tracks, follows their 2019 comeback release, Mourn the Southern Skies
