Portland-based progressive sludge metal band Lord Dying drops their new single, "The Universe Is Weeping," accompanied by a video, as part of their forthcoming album, Clandestine Transcendence, set for release on January 19th through MNRK Heavy. Since their debut demo and self-titled EP in 2011, Lord Dying has consistently delivered melancholic music for the misanthropic, evolving through Summon The Faithless in 2013 and Poisoned Altars in 2015.

Pre-order Clandestine Transcendence here.

Clandestine Transcendence, produced by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, features co-founders Erik Olson and Chris Evans, alongside Alyssa Maucere and Kevin Swartz, exploring new territories with twelve tracks of compelling riffs and vibes.

Building upon the narrative introduced in 2019's Mysterium Tremendum, where they introduced a character called "The Dreamer", a being seeking death, Clandestine Transcendence continues the story. In this second part of a planned trilogy, "The Dreamer" fulfills the desire for death, exploring the theme of what happens beyond death. The album, enriched with tension, drama, and atmosphere, immerses listeners in a profound and thematic musical experience, evident in tracks like "Unto Becoming" and the recent release, "The Universe Is Weeping."

Olson shared the following:

We are very psyched to premiere the opening track and video for 'The Universe Is Weeping' off our upcoming album. This song picks up directly where our previous album leaves off. Post death. Blazing beyond the cosmos and outside the realms of consciousness. Total dissolution of the self. Into Clandestine Transcendence.
