Australian dark folk/blackgaze project Suldusk, known for their acclaimed 2019 debut album Lunar Falls, is set to release their sophomore studio offering, Anthesis, on March 1, 2024, through Napalm Records

The band, originally a one-woman project by Emily Highfield, has expanded its lineup with talented musicians for this release. Anthesis builds on the foundation laid by their debut, offering a more musically complex experience. The album explores a dark, magical realm, blending diverse dark and extreme sounds to create a unique sonic universe. To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled the title track along with a music video.

Pre-order Anthesis here.

Suldusk's Anthesis brings together dark folk, blackgaze, post-rock, prog, doom, and black metal elements, creating a distinctive synthesis of sound. Emily's vocals showcase both softness and fragility, transitioning seamlessly into demonic screams. Shane Mulholland contributes male vocal harmonies for the first time in Suldusk's history.

Produced and mixed by Troy Mccosker, with mastering by Thomas "Plec" Johansson, the album includes guest appearances from Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Leprous) and Rachelle Harvey on cello. With their second album, Suldusk ventures into the depths of primeval forests, revealing emotions hidden under thickets.

1. Astraeus

This site needs more coverage of bands that can sell out the Metro, like Harm's Way did.
