Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) reveals solo single, "Cuffing Season"

Laura Jane Grace, the lead singer of Against Me!, has unveiled her latest single, "Cuffing Season," ahead of her upcoming album release, Hole In My Head, on February 16, 2024 via Polyvinyl Record Co. The song, accompanied by a music video directed by Margherita Ballarin, serves as a reflective acoustic piece grappling with themes of aging, hardship, and resilience in the face of adversity. 

Recorded at Native Sound in St. Louis, MO, and mixed by Matt Allison, Hole In My Head promises an eclectic mix of warm, '50s rock-influenced guitar riffs, introspective lyrics, and observations on punk life. Grace's vocals are supported by her own guitar and drum performances, with Drive-By Truckers bassist Matt Patton on over half the album.

The album, featuring 11 tracks, presents a diverse range of themes, from personal reflections to societal critique with ompositions such as "Dysphoria Hoodie," "I'm Not A Cop," and "Punk Rock in Basements," where she reminisces about her formative experiences in underground music spaces. Additionally, the album's tracks also delve into Grace's travels and connections to different cities.

Grace says:

I think as you get older and go through life's hurts and heartbreaks, it gets harder and harder to let yourself be open and vulnerable. But when you do, it can be so worth it even if you just end up hurt and heartbroken again. In the end, I don't think you regret those kinds of losses. I think you regret not trying.
