Before the band made their debut at Furnace Fest, Drain performed in Chicago, IL at Riot Fest over the weekend of September 15-17. During the band's final song, "California Cursed", frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro did his usual routine of inviting the crowd on stage to join the band during the performance, saying "Your job is to jump this barricade and to get on this stage".
If you have ever attended a Drain show, you know this is common practice for Ciaramitaro and the band. Drain has one of the most active audiences in current times, if you watched our coverage of the band playing at Furance Fest then you have some idea. But being there is truly something.
Nonetheless, after the call was given out, the crowd followed suit and did their best to answer Ciaramitaro's request. As you can imagine a bit of pandemonium for security took place.
After the set Ciaramitaro did thank security for putting up with his antics and taking care of those going over the festival barricade.

I mean how strange is it that Harm's Way a 17 year old band is only now selling out Metro yet a much younger Drain sold out Metro first & being around a lot less time. It's almost as if Hardlore & the money behind it thought hey let's book a Harm's Way tour & buy out x amount of tickets at their hometown show to make it look like a sellout...oh wait... Do the math. 1100 capacity so 1000 sell to after staff, band members & crews & guestlist. The undercard alone draws 400 paid, Harm's Way figure 150 to be fair for 550 total. Hardlore sponsors buy the other 450 tickets @ 40 a pop = 18K & give 'em away. 18K is chickenfeed cuz they make back x of that on merch cuts from all the bands at the show & whatever HW makes (HW makes X minus money owed after merch cuts )
Also sold out doesn't mean the place sold 1000 tickets to 1000 people & all 1000 people will show up. If an attenedee buys an average of 2.5 tickets that's only 450 buyers (1000 by 2.5.) Easy to sell out a show when less than half the attendees buy all the tickets. Again 18K to buy 450 $40 tickets is a small price to pay to say "Harm's Way sold out Metro" but Live Nation or AEG Live will be fooled. Proof is HW won't be offered a support slot @ Chicago's new 5K capacity venue Radius cuz reality is they draw 200 tops on their own no solid undercard like Weekend Nachos, Fleshwater, All Out War & Ingrown plus Hardlore buyout money.
