A shooting occurred at a punk show in Minneapolis, resulting in one fatality and six injuries. The incident took place at the DIY venue Nudieland on Friday night (August 11). According to police, two suspects approached the alley, gunfire ensued, and they fled on foot. Authorities suspect that one individual at the show was deliberately targeted by the shooter.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara held a press conference where he stated:
We believe one of the persons was being targeted by a shooter. We know two suspects ran from the scene, we can't confirm there were two shooters though.
According to reports, a group of adults had assembled at Nudieland on the 2200 block of 16th Avenue South. At approximately 10:00pm, two unidentified individuals approached the alley and initiated gunfire.
Arriving on scene police discovered several individuals with gunshot wounds, resulting in the death of one person in their 30s at the scene. An additional person sustained a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound, while four others sustained minor injuries.
An attendee Nick who goes by "August Golden" was the victim who was killed on scene. A GoFundMe has been set up to support.
Another witness, Quinn McClurg shared the following about the scene at the time of the shooting:
It's like normal one second, and then shots fired. And everybody hit the ground. I can't even conceptualise something like that happening at a punk show. I was making sure all my friends are OK and making sure people are getting the help they needed.
Another GoFundMe has also been set up to help those who were also injured during the tragic events, you can support that here.
