Danish rock musician Michael Poulsen, known for his work with Volbeat, has formed a new death metal band called Asinhell. Before his success with Volbeat, Poulsen was part of death metal band Dominus. During the creation of Volbeat's 202 album, Poulsen wrote a few riffs saved on his phone. After completing the Volbeat record, Poulsen decided to bring those riffs to life by forming Asinhell.

Impii Hora is set to be released on September 29 via Metal Blade Records. Asinhell has shared the lyric video for their song "Fall of the Loyal Warrior," which Poulsen describes as a tribute to bands like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. Poulsen draws inspiration from the late '80s and early '90s old school death metal scene, with Death and Chuck Schuldiner being significant influences.

To front Asinhell, Poulsen reached out to his old friend Marc Grewe, former singer of Morgoth and Insidious Disease. Drummer Morten Toft Hansen from the Danish band Raunchy also joined the lineup. Poulsen and Toft Hansen, both experienced musicians, quickly completed songs during their rehearsals, while Poulsen sent recordings to Grewe to work on the vocals.

In just about a year, Asinhell went from being a mere idea to recording their full-length album "Impii Hora." Poulsen approached Volbeat's management to help secure a record deal for Asinhell, and Metal Blade Records, founded by Brian Slagel, expressed interest in signing the band. Poulsen was ecstatic about the opportunity, describing it as a dream come true to be signed to Metal Blade Records.

Poulsen says:

"We're very excited to share the first taste of Asinhell with 'Fall of the Loyal Warrior. The song is kind of a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They're the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we're proud to wear our influences on our sleeve.
The album was inspired by late '80s and early '90s old school death metal, and one of our brightest points of inspiration was the mighty Death, fronted by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There's a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, the other being our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. 'Let the metal flow,' as Chuck would have said!"
