Apprehend take over Alabama coffee shop, throw hardcore show to support fired workers

Apprehend

Birmingham, Alabama hardcore band, Apprehend, along with Confusion's Prince, and others came together to protest the sudden closure of local coffee shop, Revelator Coffee Company. William Russel, one of the fired employees, and member of Apprehend, posted videos from the show on Twitter, available to watch below, with a comment that read:

"We threw a show there last night for them taking our job out from under us"

A Twitter user, @sam_eddins, posted photos from the storefront, along with a caption that read, "Massive shout-out to @RevelatorCoffee for treating their employees like their coffee: pure unfiltered shit," and revealed notes left behind by The Revelator team. The notes informed customers of the abrupt closure and expressed gratitude towards regulars but pointed out that they were fired without warning or severance.

The Valley Labor Report noted that this is a common practice in the local restaurant industry, and highlighted the need for union contracts to give workers the power to negotiate the terms of closure.

The notes on the storefront read:

Closed FOREVER.

Employees given NO warning or severance.

We apologize for the inconvenience, & thank you for your support and service to us.

 - The Revelator Team.

Another note read:

To our devoted and amazing regulars, THANK YOU for your incredible love & support. We appreciate you endlessly

- <3 The Team

A third note listed the ex-employees Venmo and CashApp accounts.

While you're at it, watch Apprehend's Lawn Char Youth session:
