Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme reveals cancer diagnosis, thankful for recovery

Queens of the Stone Age's upcoming album release, In Times New Roman..., took longer than expected due to various personal issues faced by the band's frontman, Josh Homme. These included his divorce from Brody Dalle, which led to a public child custody battle, and the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused mixed emotions and uncertainty during the recording process.

In an interview with Revolver, Homme mentioned that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, but underwent successful treatment and is currently in recovery. Despite the difficult times, he shared his outlook on making it through and piecing together a new life:

"I think this is the first time I didn't want to make a record, but I was dealing with a lot of stuff in my personal life. We recorded a lot of stuff. I think I was doing it because when I'm in trouble, this is what I do. This is where I go to get right."

"I never say it can't get any worse. I never say that, and I wouldn't advise it. But I do say it can get better... Cancer is just the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I'm extremely thankful that I'll get through this, and I'll look back at this as something that's fucked up — but will have made me better. I'm cool with that. There's a lot of stuff I want to do. And there's a lot of people I want to do that with."

The highly anticipated In Times New Roman... finally drops on June 16, with tours scheduled in North America and Europe over the next few months.

As opposed to being disappointed with recovery? Dumb f*cks. Yes sometimes people with cancer recover and have such severe side effects it's not worth living and guess what it's disappointing. You calling people "dumb f*cks" is the icing on the cake. The irony to how dumb you are that he's someone recovering from a life ruining disease can be disappointed. You're dumb. You're actually dumb. Like a 1940's style dumb like playing with a stick in the street dumb that kids throw rocks at dumb. And you call other people dumb and people just look and nod at you. f*cking kys YOU DUMB f*ck.

Goo-Sheetrock Syndrome, or G-SS, is no joke. Doing coke for 30 straight years is stoked.
